Well well, that is a certain game changer. ISIS in planes is uh...upsetting.

Guess it depends on the eventual goal. Do they suicide missions in mind or something else? If something else I doubt theyll be that successful.

"U.S. Central Command said it was not aware of Islamic State flying jets in Syria"

Not surprising.

US Central Command must have studied under the same tutors that Baghdad Bob learned from.

It’s not really what you see. Oh look, there’s a squirrel!

We’d better be a lil more worried about the passenger jets captured.

A sideshow really.

ISIS is never going to have air power or naval power of its own.

What could be transformative is if they can do what no adversary has done in the past 20 years — put together an effective anti-aircraft or anti-ship capacity. The entire US / NATO / Australian tactical doctrine is based upon an assumption that ships are untouchable and planes, helos and drones are almost untouchable. My guess is that Obama and Cameron have about zero willpower to stay in a fight against someone who can splash their fighters or sink their destroyers.

Exactly. Let ‘em fly! This way they’re easier to spot and shoot down.

Can you imagine these goat-smelling dudes “flying” jet fighters?

Bwahahahahaha...

Under Obama the Islamic State has “won” it’s own country so it’s logical it should have an air force.

They wouldn't last more than a few minutes in a dogfight. But, they might take down a few passenger planes before being discovered. IOW, they might be more of a terrorist threat than an air superiority threat.

I'm just an armchair theorist here, not a military guy. So, those with more experience, feel free to correct my reaction.

I wonder if we have a JSTARS in the area....they should be aware of all air and land traffic.
