WASHINGTON Oct 16 (Reuters) - President Barack Obama said on Thursday he is considering appointing an Ebola "czar" as the lead U.S. coordinator in the effort to contain the virus and that he remains opposed to a ban on travel from West Africa.

Emanuel spoke to TODAY’s Matt Lauer after news emerged about a Dallas nurse who tested positive for the Ebola virus after caring for Thomas Eric Duncan, who died last week following a battle with the disease. The nurse is the first known transmission of the virus within in the United States.
Emanuel also spoke about the influence that Ebola has had on:
Crews disinfecting the sidewalk of the infected nurse’s home: Emanuel stressed he is not a decontamination expert, but that “the sidewalk does not seem to be the right place” to emphasize. “A lot of that is about fears. Checking temperatures when people come into the country is probably not going to be our best use, but it does reassure people.”
The hospitals being used to treat patients: “It’s not the facility, it’s the training — and it’s not anything special about the rooms.”
The training health care workers must receive before working with patients: “It’s really about how the health care workers gown, de-gown. It’s about the standard processes of care. “
On whether there is a need to set up regional facilities to handle cases: “Given the fact that we’re not going to have a big outbreak here, that these are going to be isolated cases, the idea of specializing in a few places is right.”
They might want to consider Dr. Tom Frieden. I think he will be seeking new professional challenges soon.

Obama needs to appoint a President Czar to lead the country.
They don’t realize that this just makes them look that much more feckless.
Wrong. There is a Surgeon General although his current status is “Acting”. The “Acting” status allows him to draw a huge salary, wear a snappy uniform worthy of a president of Uganda or Libya, and hide out in his office, avoid responsibility and whine that he has not been confirmed.

He served as the Chief Medical Officer, Office of Counter-terrorism Policy and Planning in the Office of the Commissioner before being named FDA Assistant Commissioner, Counterterrorism Policy and Director of the Office of Counterterrorism and Emerging Threats within the Office of the Commissioner, the following year. He was promoted to Rear Admiral (Upper Half) and named Deputy Surgeon General in 2010.[2]

Obama needs to make ebola-related decisions now imo, regardless if such decisions are based on perceived federal government powers.
Considering an ebola czar not only gives the PC appearance of official action imo, but I suspect that what Obama also has in mind is an ebola scapegoat.
Correct. Perhaps the trouble is too many bureaucratic layers? We need an anti-Czar. The free market and a return to our republic.
