CHICKASHA, Okla. – Lunch meat, a couple of crackers, a slice of cheese and two pieces of cauliflower qualified as lunch in Chickasha Public Schools Monday.

Chickasha lunchStudent Kaytlin Shelton took a photo of the skimpy lunch and showed it to her parents.

“It makes me want to take that and take it to the Superintendent and tell him to eat it for lunch,” the girl tells Fox 25.

“I can go pay a dollar for a Lunchable and get more food in it,” her father, Vince Holton, says.

The new lunch complies with lunch regulations championed by First Lady Michelle Obama and implemented by the USDA.

I’m guessing ranch dressing for the cauliflower.

Add some tomato ketchup to go with the plastic container....probably as much nutrition in the foam container as in the rest of the so called “meal”

That whole dang thing looks like it cost them about 50 cents. The box it’s in probably costs more.

My school lunch ladies were rural moms who knew how to cook. You couldn’t concentrate in the class before lunch what with the homemade yeast roll smell floating through the halls. Government real butter, too. Real pieces of chicken fried or lemon peppered. Big homemade pb cookies with government pb. Real apples to dip into pb and government real honey. Mac and cheese with government real cheese. OMG, everyone loved that cheese, yummmm!

Your child attends public school? How sad for you and how horrid for your kid.

No question about it.

I also love how just because something is labeled as wheat, it’s guaranteed to be better for you. Wrong. For example many wheat breads are worse for a person than white breads. As with everything, check the ingredients.

Every “First Lady” seems to think she has to have a project.

I find it annoying even when its a GOP president.

This pale excuse for lunch is LOADED with FAT and very little else. Crackers are very fatty. Processed lunchmeat is very fatty, whatever that horrible white sauce is looks like fat. And the pale cauliflower has had every semblance of a nutrient cooked out of it.

While I would agree that the primary source of calories in this lunch would be from fat, I have my doubts that the cauliflower shown in the picture is cooked. Looks like raw cauliflower from where I'm standing.

Yea, She just finished 8 years in the USAF. Her ‘pathetic’ little charter school degree really ruined her life. She was only able to do jet mechanics on the F117, then the F22, then the f35 during testing and finally spent the last couple yearsafter she crosstrained inside on the Doomsday plane with Panetta and then Hagel.

So don’t ever let anyone tell you that Charters are just as good as public schools, SJB, because clearly had she got a ‘real’ public school degree she wouldn’t have been so limited.

A 6 foot, 180 pound high school kid would starve on this crap.

It is even worse than that. If kids are not getting the proper nutrition, it will stunt their growth -- no matter how well-intentioned Michelle's regulations are. Kids are growing and need more nutrition to accommodate it.
