Democratic Sen. Kevin de León was sworn in as the first Latino to head the California Senate in more than a century with an expensive and out-of-the-ordinary soirée Wednesday night in downtown Los Angeles.

The event at Walt Disney Concert Hall with an estimated price tag of $50,000 resembled a presidential inaugural more than the low-key affairs at the state Capitol held by past senate leaders. […]

The California Latino Legislative Caucus Foundation, which receives donations from special interests seeking influence in the Legislature, picked up the tab for the event and organizers emphasized no taxpayer money was involved.

“organizers emphasized no taxpayer money was involved”

That’s funny right there. We will be paying for it for years.

The reconquesta is nearly complete. Get used to it. Spanish culture just loves pomp and ceremony. Also the leaders assume their offices are lifetime sinecures. This democracy thing, its going to have to change to accommodate the new realities.

... bash that busts tradition

Well of course they are. And they're most likely doing it at taxpayer's expense. After all, they are RATS, probably boinking each other too.

One massive cluster.

“Get used to it”? Favorite slogan of the commies.

Why is it that these natives reject “gringo” culture but not Spanish culture? not that very many of them have ever been to Spain, I suspect.

The CLLC is extremely anti-Republican. They didn’t let a Hispanic politician in once just because he was GOP—Rocky Chavez.

Neither have very many of the Latinos in California.

“organizers emphasized no taxpayer money was involved”

I’m relieved. It was only influence peddling this time.

The CLLC’s portion of public largess isn’t disclosed by the CA state government, so there’s no way of really knowing if taxpayer money wasn’t used.

Keeping his promise to cut government waste and lower taxes. If I were an IRS betting man, I would read “future tax evasion charges” all over this guy.

An IRS betting man....there’s the big fault in my logic.
