Opponents of the Washington Redskins name in Minneapolis are pulling out all the stops to bar the team from using its controversial name during its November game against the Minnesota Vikings. Now, a city attorney will explore whether the Mill City has the legal authority to ban the name entirely.
The decision to look into taking legal action was part of two resolutions recently passed by the Minneapolis city council. The first resolution, which passed unanimously last week, officially condemned the racist, offensive name of the Washington, D.C. football franchise. One councilmember said the name is an affront to a sensitive city.

Simple solution... rename the team to something more fitting for Washington, DC...The Washington Kleptocrats
“They have waaay too much time on their hands....................”
Yes indeed.
Things Democrats find interesting: wasting American dollars and credit, sports teams’ names. `Global warming’, school lunches, firearms, `carbon credits’, `gays’, `Islamic spring’, giving arms and money to muslims and narco-terrorists, and conservative PACs.
Things they ignore: Ebola, the safety of Americans overseas and at home, our southwestern border, a nuclear Iran, jobs/the economy/the national debt, energy self-sufficiency, American roads, bridges and other infrastructure.
I’d like to know...have any native/indigenous Americans complained about the name ‘Redskins’?
Seminoles told the Libs take a hike they want the publicity
Minneapolis is the Dakota Siouxword mni meaning ‘water’ with Greek word ‘polis’ for city.
The name Minnesota is based on a Dakota Sioux word which means ‘sky-tinted water’.
Using the name ‘Viking’ is a CLEAR case of cultural appropriation.
It looks like they need to change the name of their city, their state AND their football team - or risk having those words banned by other cities.
Photo caption states "Redskins owner Dan Snyder (L) sits with Navajo President Ben Shelly and his wife at the Cardinals vs. Redskins game in Arizona on Sunday."
They have on Redskins caps too.
The entire ‘protest’ seems to be driven by liberals, and a small group of politically active Oneida in New York state.
Thanks for the information. I think you are on the right track. They must be notified at once.
Well, it's a combination of the Sioux word for water and "polis" which is Greek for city.
So, they can keep the polis part, and lose the Minnea part. Then they gotta replace the Minnea part. I'm all for Crappa...
Wait until the PC police in Minneapolis find out their co-twin city is named after an evangelical Christian extremist who opposed gay marriage.
Yes, the agitators have. The majority nationwide don't really care, or actually approve of the name.
Lots of different tribes here in NM, and I've seen more tribal members wearing the gear here than just about any other ethnic group.
Frankenopolis
A helmet with horns is a helmet with handles for one’s opponent.
Kirk Douglas never wore horns or a helmet in “The Viking”.
The Picts adorned their helmets with wings, IIRC.
Too much credit to someone whose name should disappear with history. Plus, the LIVs would confuse it with Frankenstein.
Minneapolis is indeed a “sensitive city”. It is filled with people who are perpetually offended.
The Redskins should replace their logo for the Vikings game with the Obama logo and demand to be introduced as the Epic Failures just to watch the libs heads explode.
Sorry. i thought you were looking for a synonym for “Crappopolis”
And Vikings associating white people with raping, pillaging and burning, with enslaving the Celtic peoples of the British Isles, and forging an empire that stretched from central Russia to the Mediterranean?
Obama is what?
Why he’s the first Black president.
He’s the first Blackskined president.
