It might be that “ebola” has been around a long time in Africa. Those in Africa may have some immunity or resistance to the virus. Those in Africa that got sick/died may have a flawed gene. Modern medicine has only studied this since 1976.

ISIS will not have to carry out terrorist acts but can sit back, relax and observe the havoc that Duncan has created.

Ohioans are safe, according to state health officials

And they can make this statement based on what kind of evidence? The health care worker just left the state a couple of days ago. The incubation period is up to 3 weeks, so cases may not start popping up for 2 to 3 weeks from now. To make such a statement at this stage is exactly the reason that the public has absolutely no trust in what government officials say. I certainly don't believe them. Our highest level government official has proven that he lies in almost every statement he makes, so why should we believe anything the rest of them state for the purpose of political expediency. They're trying to prevent panic, but the end result is that they promote panic instead.

OK, Freepers, time for action.

Call your reps in DC and tell them the flights from West Africa through any hub HAVE TO STOP!

The place to fight this disease is at its source, not here.

The “screening” process at our airports is a joke and ineffective. 150 people a day are coming here from West Africa—that is 4500 a month. Some will show a fever and yet may be carrying the virus.

Our healthcare system will shutdown if this continues.

We already have cases in Kansas, Nebraska, Massachusetts, Virginia, and Texas.

The first order of business of a government is to protect their citizens. And this government is failing to do so.

Make the calls.

The family you save may be your own.

The head of the US infectious disease agency has said he is “confident” the US will not suffer a large outbreak of the deadly virus Ebola, currently devastating countries in West Africa.

Dr Tom Frieden told a Congressional panel the US could expect isolated cases but well-prepared hospitals could prevent a widespread epidemic.

Do you have a source? That would qualify as news.

Where did you see this?

Odd, NCIS New Orleans had a stolen “plague” virus from a Navy lab in Peru. (last week’s show)

“Uh, I thought the POS’ CDC and local health officials were watching the people attending Patient Zero like a hawk? If so, why would they allow this individual to board an airplane?”

Very good question. Not one the MSM will be asking though.

The Reston Monkey Die Off back in the 80’s was a case of Ebola that was proven to be airborne.

With cages that were 20cm apart.

1. How long can it live on a hard surface?
2. Are there any surfaces that reduce its viability?
3. Does sunlight or UV light kill it?
4. If so, how fast?
5. What substances kill the virus on surfaces?
6. What foods, vitamins, spirits, beverages found in the market kill the virus, if any (quinine was effective on yellow fever)

1. Up to 6 days when it stays damp, probably a few hours in most cases. Cooler temperatures help maintain the virus (e.g. 40F).
2. Bleach or detergent kills it because of the viral envelope
3, 4, Presumably UV kills it but probably not much quicker than drying.
5. see 2.
6. I think zinc is a good antiviral in the blood stream. There are survivors who drank lots of some stuff I never heard of http://www.academia.edu/8376294/HOW_TO_SURVIVE_EBOLA_VIRUS_EBOLA_SURVIVAL_STORY

Some have said that Ebola is the equivalent of Katrina to Bush. I disagree ... it’s much worse. Ebola ‘may’ end up being the political death of Obola .... ironic & fitting that a son of West Africa may be taken down (again, I only mean ‘politically’ for all you SS & NSA guys monitoring FR) by a disease from West Africa.

You are quite wrong to refer to Obama Obola as a son of West Africa.

Kenya is in East Africa.

This reads just like an October surprise.

Well, an October surprise would be geared to re-elect Democrats so that they can retain control of the Senate and take back control of the House. This should have exactly the opposite effect of that.

21 days is still the quarantine time. 42 days with no new cases is for an area to be declared virus free.

With cages separated by entire rooms. It traveled through the vent system and killed monkeys in two rooms.

“presumably” and “probably” are words antithetical to fact.

‘definitely’ and ‘the evidence proves’ are the words I’m looking for.

That was drama from a "true story" paperback book. The science on it paper is here: http://www.nature.com/srep/2012/121115/srep00811/full/srep00811.html?message-global=remove&goback=.gde_4429892_member_187356406
