Houston LGBT Mayor has EVERY LEGAL RIGHT to Prosecute Christian Churches for Political Activity

First, I (Patton@Bastogne) am a pro-life anti-gay-marriage evangelical Christian.

Second, (in today's news story reported by The Houston Chronicle, below) ...

I am calling out the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) and their attorney Christina Holcomb ...

as "Despicable Liars".

ADF attorneys KNOW FULL WELL that Churches' "voluntary" acceptance of the IRS 501-C3 "federal contract" means that Christian Churches SURRENDER their rights to ...

First Admendment "Free Speech" ... when practiced behind a "tax-exempt church pulpit".

Period.

I openly challenge the deceptive ADF organization (and you, gentle reader) to DOWNLOAD IRS Pamplet-1828 ...

and send this legal copy of the "Federal Contractor Guidelines" to EVERY Christian Church in Houston, Texas.

I maintain that the ADF's goal is "financial gain" ... as they "lie through their teeth" to otherwise well-meaning Christians about church political activity.

The Houston Chronicle

The city of Houston has issued subpoenas demanding a group of pastors turn over any sermons dealing with homosexuality, gender identity or Annise Parker, the city’s first openly lesbian mayor. And those ministers who fail to comply could be held in contempt of court.

“The city’s subpoena of sermons and other pastoral communications is both needless and unprecedented,” Alliance Defending Freedom attorney Christina Holcomb said in a statement.

“The city council and its attorneys are engaging in an inquisition designed to stifle any critique of its actions.”

ADF, a nationally-known law firm specializing in religious liberty cases, is representing five Houston pastors.

They filed a motion in Harris County court to stop the subpoenas arguing they are “overbroad, unduly burdensome, harassing, and vexatious.”

“Political and social commentary is not a crime,” Holcomb said. “It is protected by the First Amendment.”

The subpoenas are just the latest twist in an ongoing saga over the Houston’s new non-discrimination ordinance.

The law, among other things, would allow men to use the ladies room and vice versa. The city council approved the law in June.

If taking away your churches tax-exempt status kills it, it needs to be killed.

What is truly of God will not be touched by losing tax-exempt status.

This is quite an indictment of your church.....

Hey .... you're correct about Obama's IRS-Gestapo NOT enforcing IRS 501-C3 with either sodomite (gay) churches ... or most "black" churches ...

But like in Animal Farm, some animals are more equal than others ...

He had best start with the Black Democratic churches, because no church is more outspoken against homo’s than a black church

So how do people like the mail order reverends Sharpton and Jackson get to say whatever the h*ll they want, even to the point of inciting riots? They get all sorts of IRS exemptions.

On October 7 [2012], pastors across the nation addressed issues during their Sunday sermons that should cause the IRS to come after them for "political speech." And that was precisely their intention. Close to 1600 pastors and priests-about three times the number as last year-signed up to give messages that would address the positions of political candidates on key issues of concern to biblically minded Christians.

But this exercise in free speech violated an Internal Revenue Service rule referred to as the Johnson Amendment. And that was the goal of Pulpit Freedom Sunday. By speaking directly to specific candidates' positions, these pastors were hoping to generate a court case that will challenge the constitutionality of the rule. Any pastors get investigated by the IRS for their challenge its rule will be represented free of charge by the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF).

Ken Klukowski, director of the Center for Religious Liberty at the Family Research Council wrote, (Breitbart.com, 10/8/2012), "This is a fascinating form of civil disobedience. Although churches are quick to obey the biblical command in Romans 13:1 (among many other verses) to submit to authority, these pastors also understand that in this country the Constitution is the Supreme Law of the Land, and that any federal statute violating the Constitution is not the law and lacks any authority."

Pulpit Freedom Sunday was launched by ADF in 2008 in an effort to see the Johnson Amendment declared unconstitutional. That year 33 pastors challenged the rule. In 2009, 84 pastors did. In 2010 there were a hundred, and last year 539 pastors sent their sermons to the IRS.

So far, the IRS has not touched any of these challenges. The excuse seems to be "lack of manpower." As the liberal Huffington Post declared (10/5/2012): "…despite what's in the rules, the agency continues to struggle to do anything about those who defy the law. In 2009, the U.S. District Court of Minnesota ruled the IRS no longer had the appropriate staff to investigate places of worship after a reorganization changed who in the agency had the authority to launch investigations. New procedures for conducting church audits have been pending since 2009, which has left the IRS virtually impotent in conducting any kind of new investigations."

The rule in question was passed by Congress in 1954 as part of an effort by then Sen. Lyndon B. Johnson to muzzle non-profit organizations that were opposing his re-election. His primary concern was silencing his conservative opponents, not pastors in pulpits.

According to Stanley, "The real question is this: When has the government ever been allowed to condition any government-recognized status (such as tax-exempt status) on the surrender of a constitutionally protected freedom?"

No. With all due respect, the Government does not automatically "give" Churches IRS 501-C3 tax-exempt status.

Church tax-erxempt status is Ceasar's "30 pieces of silver" as PAY for churches that toe-the-line for Caesar.

It ain't a FREE LUNCH.

Watch the YouTube videos. LEARN about the (LB)Johnson Amendment of 1954.

Everyone fighting "evil" requires education.

This is "your" SPIRITUAL moment to learn about the "evil" of IRS 501-C3.

I had mine back in 1988.

It scared the "whatever" out of me.

You're in first "Matrix" movie. Morpheous is offering you either the Red or Blue pill.

What say you ?

Good research. Thanks.

However, with all due respect, Mr. Stanley is WRONG.

Period.

Watch the YouTube video(s). They each have the same fundamental message.

"IF" ... "IF" ... the ADF and Mr. Stanley were correct, the U.S. Supreme Court would have OVERTURNED the 1954 Johnson Admendment.

It's been sixty (60) years, and it ain't happened.

Because it's "Caesar's LAW OF THE LAND".

IRS Pamplet-1828 has been around for some time now, perhaps as much as fifteen years.

Lois Lerner didn't write it.

She just enforces the hell out of it.

I agree, but regardless of whether a particular church has already capitulated to this, they must still speak out against sin and they must resist any government attempt to regulate or prosecute them.

You give too much credit to the liberals.

Presnting and discussing Bible passages is fully within the rights of every Christian church, tax exemption or not.

Then you ignore fairness. What about the liberal churches that repeatedly tear apart conservatives, Bush, Perry, etc? Will they be subject to legal actions as well?

Thank you. A voice of sanity. We are sooo willing to ascribe to whatever malarkey the Left suddenly decides to spew. I believe we must get other this passion to surrender to all these leftist proclamations simply because it appears to come “the government”.
