TThe black 18-year-old man who was shot and killed by an off-duty St. Louis metropolitan police officer last week had gunpowder residue on his hands and clothes, according to forensic information released Tuesday.

He was already under house arrest for a pending firearms offense earlier in the Summer. Allegedly, he tossed a piece while running away from the police.
Perhaps she didn't notice the photos on FB showing him with three (3) guns.

Chances are the perp held the pistol in the horizontal position like the gang bangers on TV. This shooting style may be a factor in why, as a group, they are poor marksmen.

The perp fired three shots at the off duty officer. So the residue is from the perp’s gun.
That is more forensic evidence that he not had a gun, but that he fired a gun.

I’m confused. Since the perp was shot at, wouldn’t that shot put residue on him?Gunshot residue is the leftover residue from the gunpowder igniting. You have to be within a few feet of the gun when it's fired to get any on you. The perp was shot from too far away to have gotten any residue from the officer's gun on him.

And there was a prior arrest when he was 16, over shooting a 15 year old in the leg. Charges were dismissed when the victim failed to appear at the hearing.
