Real Clear Politics: GOP in position to take a big majority in Senate
Hotair ^ | 10/14/2014 | Noah Rothman

It’s just a snapshot in time but, with just three weeks to go before voters head to the polls to cast their ballots in the midterm elections, Republicans may be in the best position to take control of the Senate than at any point in the 2014 election cycle.

Republicans’ biggest obstacles to retaking control in the upper chamber emerged in early fall not in their ability to unseat incumbent Democrats, but in the party’s challenges in defending GOP senators or previously GOP-held open seats. That problem is starting to fade as Republican voters begin to “come home” to unpopular GOP candidates for the sake of the Senate majority.

The most embattled Republican benefiting from this phenomenon is Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts who trailed Democrat-turned-independent Greg Orman for weeks following a Kansas court’s decision to order Democratic Senate nominee Chad Taylor off the ballot. For the first time since mid-September, a series of polls have begun to show Roberts reclaiming the GOP vote. He is now tied with Orman in the RCP average of polls and, with the tie going to the incumbent, RCP now suggests the Kansas race again leans toward Roberts.

With no Republican-held seats now in danger of falling into Democratic hands, according to the RCP averages of polls, the GOP is poised to pick up eight seats in the Senate after November 4. According to the polling averages, Republican candidates are poised to win their respective races in Alaska, Montana, South Dakota, Iowa, Colorado, Arkansas, West Virginia, and Louisiana.

“...How many Senate votes required to Impeach, simple majority or 2/3?...”

It’s not going to happen.

NONE of those folks are willing to be the group that impeaches “the First African-American President”.

Pipe dream.

The only one that might even remotely bring it up would be Senator Cruz; the guy has balls of brass.

I’d love to see it as much as you would, but it’s not going to happen.

And for the record - let’s wait until we HAVE the Senate before celebrating.

“...will give Ted Cruz a national platform to attack the fascist Obuma administration and assorted turncoats in the GOP....”

Sarge, THAT would be wonderful to see. I’ll tip a cold one your way for that imagery, brother.

Team Senator Cruz up with Trey Gowdy over in the House and turn them both loose.

Then step back, pass the popcorn, and watch the lib heads explode.

Cautious optimism. Let’s win it first...

“I didn’t think Republicans could win on just not being Democrats.”

Well stated!

Technicality here, but the Senate doesn’t impeach. The House impeaches (think of it like an indictment in the usual court system) and the Senate holds a trial.

For all you folks talking impeachment:

The House impeaches, the Senate convicts.

Read your Constitution.

“Then Obama brought us ebola to America.”

Yeah, I agree, that’s not helping them. I too hope they get slaughtered. Not that I even think it will make that big of a difference, but they just deserve it.

The race is ALL about the “margin of fraud”.

Fraud will be out of control in the no id needed zones.

also the “holdback” counties will create the fake votes.

This is a thread to pile on the support.

WE can win if we go PERSON TO PERSON, FRIEND TO FRIEND and show that Obamacrats are the minority in the world.

“Sarge, THAT would be wonderful to see.”

The problem we have as patriots/conservatives is the bloody hand-wringing wimps who believe the country is lost. God knows how many of these losers infest these threads. I’m more hostile toward and despise them more than I do liberals because they’re supposed to be on our side.

Good post, NFHale. Best wishes to you and your family.

This will not just be a defeat for Reid, though that will be cause for celebration, but 21 standing committees, 4 special committees, and 4 joint committees will be chaired by Republicans, many as solidly conservative as you could want. These Senators will control much of the tempo, the debate, and the details of legislation. It will be significant

Will it really matter when:

(1) The POTUS will push enevelope of EO's not seen in history and

(2) A feckless Boehner and McConnell and who won't do a damn thing about it.
