John, not Mark, touts Warner in TV ad

John Warner, the retired Republican senator, has cut a strong testimonial commercial endorsing Virginia Democratic Sen. Mark Warner for reelection, becoming the latest former member of the chamber to make an appearance in this year’s elections.

The younger Warner challenged the elder Warner, no relation, back in 1996. But they became closer over the years and developed a good working relationship when Mark Warner became governor in 2002. Mark Warner picked up his seat six years ago upon John Warner’s retirement.

This is the first time John Warner, now 87, has either endorsed a Democrat for elected office in Virginia or cut an ad for a candidate on the other side.

“For 30 years, it was my privilege to represent you in the United States Senate,” John Warner, says to camera in the 30-second ad, shared first with POLITICO. “In Congress, to get things done, you gotta have the guts to cross the aisle and reach bipartisan agreement. That’s what I did; that’s what Mark Warner does today. While we come from different parties, we both believe in putting Virginia first. I know Mark Warner. He’s decisive, experienced and has courage. He earned my vote; your vote is equally important.”

But we conservatives HAVE to vote for the REPUBLICAN nominee, whoever it is NO MATTER WHAT!!!

Moderate Republican former Senator Warner doesn't seem to want a republican senate. No big tent for him! Ed Gillespie, the Establishment, former RNC head just isn't moderate ENOUGH for him.

So the lesser of two evils for John Warner is of course the democrat in the race...because moderate republicans ARE democrats...they just hold seats to prevent conservatives from getting them.

John Warner is every bit as much a loyal Republican as Colin Powell. He didn’t want Powell stealing his thunder by doing it first.

At 87, Johnny probably isn’t up on what his DemocRATS are doing to America right now. He needs to take a nap and leave these hate America ads to the communists.

Reagan’s 11th Commandment? Never heard of it says GOPE stalwart John Warner.

GOPE disclaimer:

Please note conservatives, even those on FR are not allowed to take this type of action at anytime or in any election as the ability to back stab and betray is an exclusive right and privilege of the GOPE wing of the Republican Party.

John Warner has been a rat for a long time. Back in ‘94 he cut the Oliver North campaign off at the knees, when as the sitting Republican Senator he not only didn’t endorse the Republican nominee, but very publicly backed an independent—so as to split the vote, helping the Democrats win—in the same election that nationally—swept Republicans back in control of the House.

Truly a real rat.

Yup, that’s I keep reminding people of the duplicity of these moderates. To them, a democrat is preferable to a conservative.

We’ve seen this with Warner and Lugar and Milliken this year, Powell, Chafee, Crist and Murkowski in past, etc. in past years.

Sorry if I were in VA I’d vote for Gillespie, getting rid of Harry Reid in control of the Senate as well as making Obama’s last 2 years a living Hell for him is too important for me. Yes RINOS/GOP-e are bad, but don’t have a tantrum, man. Keep your eye on the ball (longer term)!~

Meanwhile we get berated by them if we fail to show support and enthusiasm for the most leftist RINO.

I’m not having a tantrum or suggesting that people not vote for Gillespie. I’m pointing out that an Establishment candidate is STILL not good enough for John Warner, who has endorsed the democrat.

These moderate republicans backstab members of their own party time and again. We saw the same with Richard Lugar this year, endorsing Michelle Nunn, and former governor Milliken endorsing Peters in Michigan.

The fix is to do the same to them ...in the primary....we can’t bitch about what they do and then do the same thing.
