New trend: Billionaires 'buying gun control'
wnd.com ^ | 10/12/2014 | Leo Hohmann

Bill Gates, Michael Bloomberg and three other billionaires are bankrolling a controversial gun-control initiative that will appear on the Nov. 4 ballot in Washington State.

Even the new owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, Steve Ballmer, has gotten into the act, writing a check for $1 million dollars to help flood the airwaves with anti-gun propaganda.

The strategy in Washington relies on big money supplied by a few ultra-rich elites and, if successful, could serve as Bloomberg’s model for tightening the strings on gun owners nationwide.

Initiative 594 would not only require background checks for transactions at gun shows and over the Internet but also person-to-person sales and loaned guns. Even handing a firearm to a friend for a few moments during a hunting trip would trigger the need for a background check if Initiative 594 were to pass, critics say. The cost of the background check, to be borne by the gun owner, is yet to be determined.

Backers of the proposal are flush with cash, as nearly $8 million has been shoveled in their direction from wealthy businessmen such as Bloomberg, Gates, Ballmer, Seattle venture capitalist Nick Hanauer and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen.

But Bloomberg and his billionaire buddies aren’t limiting their targets to Washington. He has invested $50 million in similar ballot initiatives in 12 states, reported the Seattle Times. The money moves through his foundation, Every Town For Gun Safety.

“There existing a professional and heavily armed constabulary, there is NO need for the citizenry to own and bear their own arms.”

We must still have a way to make sure said constabulary can not become our overlords and masters.
That is exactly what private gun ownership is all about. To ensure we do not become slaves.
When seconds count, law enforcements is minutes away. That won't change either.

Why is it that those billionaires with their own armed security don't recognize that others want the same protection.
Regular folks can't afford a team of bodyguards. We have to be our own.

You will never get me to surrender my collection of prized bicycles. I love them as much as I love my firearms.
Do not fall into the intellectual trap of wanting something else (bicycles) banned because you are not fond of them.

This is essentially Seattle vs the rest of the state. King County has become a political death star.

Same in Nevada. Las Vegas controls the rest of us rubes. Sad dang situation. Same can be said for any state with one huge population center where corrupt administrations maintain control. Country folks are screwed.

No I don’t want them banned, I just think it shows how full of crap this guy Bloomberg is. He bans tons of things for “public health” or “public safety” then he promotes the hell out of bike riding which as I said kills people every week in NYC, and the only reason he does that is to appease the libs and their global warming scam. So it’s illegal for me to buy a 32 oz soda but riding my bike around speeding traffic is perfectly safe, OK. How many people overdose and die from soda every week?

A glaringly obvious point that is generally ignored is that we are being objectified as the enemy and most of us are already well-armed.

You don’t tug on Superman’s cape
You don’t spit into the wind
You don’t pull the mask of the old Lone Ranger
And...

May they all be stabbed to death....

The inevitable remark will be: "Stabbed to death, huh? Just imagine how much damage would've been done if they'd had a GUN!"

Have to agree, strong 2nd A supporter. I REFUSE to shop aqt places my gun is NOT WELCOME. ALL GUN OWNERS SHOULD TOO!

Strong supporter of the Death Penalty too and I don't give a flip how it is carried out. I'd gladly pull the switch, or plunge the needle. And have no remorse.

I knew this Nikki and her family.

Ashley Nichole 'Nikki' Read, age 8, RAPED and KILLED by david keen. 24 yrs ago. He has been on TN Death Row for 20 yrs. ALL State and Federal Appeals are FINISHED. DNA proved he raped her, he confessed he both raped and strangled her to with her own shoe laces. Yet TN Gov Bill Halsam refuses to set an execution date or sign the execution warrant. 615) 741-2001 bill.haslam@tn.gov Nikki was raped, strangled with her own Shoelaces, wrapped tightly in her blanket and thrown in the river barely still alive, where she finally drown to death. 24 Yrs of waiting for Justice, is obscene. Tell TN Governor to do his Constitutional Duty, that 2 juries decided and all appeals courts UPHELD was the right course of action. The Death Penalty.

david keen child rapist, murderer

Nikki age 8

Grave
