The Texan nurse diagnosed with Ebola has received a blood transfusion from survivor Dr Kent Brantly, reports claim. It is the third time Dr Brantly has donated blood to Ebola victims after medics discovered he had the same blood type as previous patient Dr Nick Sacra and NBC cameraman Ashoka Mukpo, who is still being treated.
Incredibly, nurse Nina Pham, 26, has also matched with Brantly and today received a transfusion of his blood in a move that doctors believe could save her .
Pham has been in quarantine since Friday after catching the disease from 'patient zero' Thomas Eric Duncan - the man who brought the deadly virus to America.
Brantly is believed to have traveled to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, where Pham worked, to make the donation on Sunday night. Today, Pham's condition was described as 'clinically stable'.

Living just a mile from Ebola ground zero in Dallas we’ve been saturated with info. I cannot tell you where I read or heard this but Duncan was unable to receive a transfusion because his blood type was not a match. Sorry I can’t provide a link but it might have even been here on FR which usually has local ebola news before Dallas media!
No clue. And I can’t find the link where I read that about Duncan being the wrong blood type.
Take it with a grain of salt.
No it just so happened that the lying Ebola Man was a different blood type..
Somehow Providential..
It would be a good guess, but there is no way to know for sure
She may have adjusted the exam light above him before putting on her gloves, because she was drying her arms after scrubbing up. Warm light within sneeze, cough range of Duncan.
Thank You for Checking IN. You’re our woman-on-the-scene. Finally Onona checked in tonight, too.
Please read post#8. My confusion is if she became symptomatic on Friday, how can the BF already be sick with Ebola, if the CDC protocol is accurate.
The moment she contracted and started incubating, she shared the process with her boyfriend. He’s lagging a couple days behind. Just pray they share the same blood type.
Hey, she may be a WHITE Vietnamese woman, ya know. Like Zimmermand was a WHITE Hispanic.
Thanks. I Googled and found that after asking you.
What a cluster....I guess they lived together
I'll take #3 for $1,000, Alex
I'm trying to follow this story closely. Why in the world do we have to get all the details from the British press?
Amen!

Link to Dallas’ Ebola breaking news in thread. Thanks to bgill
This situation with this nurse alone, makes it quite clear why we need to close our borders.
Thank you for the link.
Somehow Providential..
THAT ^^.
Hey, thanks for that blog link. Will make things a little more forthcoming.
Yes, Dr. Brantly was asked and agreed to donate to Duncan, but the blood types did not match.
Nancy Writebol has also offered to donate, but her blood has not matched any of the other patients.
Yet.
Per WFAA local news the “only contact” is in isolation and not showing any symptoms and her dog was removed from the apartment just this afternoon. The City will be caring for the dog....so far no talk of euthanizing it. Nina has been asking for about her pet since she was admitted.
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
