Thousands of Liberian healthcare workers are set to begin an indefinite strike at midnight on Monday which could undermine the country's effort to stop the spread of the deadly Ebola virus and leave several hundred patients without care.

Health workers in the West African nation threatened to abandon hundreds of patients in Ebola treatment units, clinics and hospitals if demands for better incentives, working conditions and protective equipment were not met.

Never fear. obola will write them a nice big check and send US military.

IIRC, all but 50 doctors had walked off the job in August.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

I think you're right...and probably wouldn't take as long.

In fact, we will see it here much sooner.

We have government regulations to deal with PPE, hours worked in that type of environment, etc.

And worse...or better as the case may be...we have unions.

Yep. You can see it almost already. Dallas P. ER closed down. Boston hospital transfers case, who they wouldn’t let through the door, to another hospital.

They want hazard pay. Give it to them and get them back to work.

That only make sense. The HC workers didn't know what they were in for at first over there. The HC workers here will want no part of that.

Nurses’ unions here in the States have been asserting their right to a long vacation from Ebola when needed in the near future. Animal worshipers have also taken control of the situation for Ebola dog freedom. So far, it’s all looking pretty good.

Have fun. Enjoy the slide. See y’all on TV.

And hospital-closing strikes will quickly provoke the ‘Ebola Exodus’, a hopeless urban flight from African and American communities to some ostensibly safer, low contact, rural getaway.

Be careful: Wherever you go, there you are.

The only sane response is to deny care to ebola patients , confine them outside the hospitals and clinics... What good is it having a hospital if all the doctors and nurses are dead or infected? If we save the doctors at least they can help other,, not only today but tomorrow.

Without a “magic bullet” drug any person can give a reasonable fascimile of the care the patient would receive in a hospital anyway... it amounts to water/gatorade and comfort.

I knew a bunch of them had left.

I just don't understand why USA troops were sent in to do anything other than maintain a quarantined perimeter, after wards.

There should have been zero travel visa's issued to anyone in any of those nations.

IIRC, all but 50 doctors had walked off the job in August.

What happened to the 50 who stayed? How many are still alive?

The only sane thing to do here in the US is not issue visas to anyone from that part of the world -- and that is something that should have been done weeks ... months ago.

Liberian healthcare workers quit. Iraq army won't fight. Secret Service won't secure the White House, and 0bammy won't even pretend to be president.

I think I see a trend.

I wonder how long it will take for non-infectious disease related speciality clinics to put up warning signs prohibiting anyone sick and with a recent fever from entering their facility?
How long will it take for pharmacies to do the same?
And then, supermarkets, movie theaters, restaurants etc, etc.
When we see warning signs going up on government buildings, I think we will have just about arrived at SHTF level.

I understand that ebola survivors can safely care for the victims. There should be scads of those in Africa, the silver lining of the cloud of the size of the outbreak. Find them and pay them royally.

Now tell me his, why wouldn’t US military do the same once they’re in the hot zone? Any soldier knows that there is a likelihood that many soldiers will become infected and bring back the virus to their friends and families in the US. They are Obola’s useful idiots and should know it.
