NICS Checks Show Gun Purchases Strong in 2014

New numbers reported by the FBI suggest that Americans may be buying firearms at a slightly higher rate in 2014 than they did in 2012, following a record number of checks during the “surge” brought on by President Barack Obama’s re-election in November 2012 and his subsequent campaign for gun control.

Because Americans bought guns at an unusually high rate in 2013, some commentators have compared the 2013 numbers to those in 2014 and on that basis claimed that gun purchases are in serious decline.  However, that’s like saying that a professional football team’s offense is waning, because after racking up 30 points in the first quarter and 40 points in the second quarter, it has scored only 24 points in the first eleven minutes of the third quarter.

You don’t have to be paranoid to prudently prepare to protect yourself from a regime that’s constantly threatening us all

Ps: and if America manages to survive the next two years without open warfare on its citizens , your guns can still be used for regular self defense so nothing lost

That’s a great choice! Make sure you get the extended mag for better control. The “1911 like” thumb safety I feel is safer than the trigger safety of many of the newer type pistols. They are great little guns!

I’ll bet “da conomy” would really be in the toilet if it wasn’t for these great gun sales numbers. I’m doing my part to help “da conomy” recover. Mainly because I have to replace the guns that I lose during boating accidents every summer. I’m a lousy canoe paddler.

Sales have gone way down around here, the place was dead.

Maybe in Texas everyone already has 500 guns ? One thing I can ask here maybe is any advice on models of good quality equipment to replace a really nice ak 47 that a friend recently lost and wants to eventually get another excellent similar trophy piece — he’s been looking at Springfield m1a’s. Any thoughts most welcome. As I’m not an expert. Thanks p

I am deciding whether to purchase a DPMS Mini SASS or a Springfield Armory M1A Scout Squad. I like the stopping power of the Scout but not the weight. Decisions, decisions.

I just might wind up buying one for myself too.....always wanted one as they are much classier than the LCP which I now carry (along with a Kimber Ultra).

I bought an SR762 this past summer and will be buying another AR in 308 within 9 months. The 223 is like a toy after shooting the 308. Wanted a SCAR but the mags were a deal breaker. Leaning towards a Sig 716 patrol for my next rifle.

Just bought a p238 (rosewood). I absolutely love it. Bought mine on gunbroker for $150 less than available locally ($476).
