Unless the airline has the ability to offer tho service, I think she was right to refuse. To accept the jacket also would have meant accepting liability for whatever might have happened to the jacket while the airline had it in its possession.

Good grief, I would fire the flight attendant for the way that they handled this. Unbelievable. I always go up to service people and greet them friendly and thank them for their service. I could never be disrespectful to any veteran. I don’t care what side of politics they are on, they are heroes and very brave. I hope that FA’s picture hits the web.

Not one A-hole in first class spoke up to defend this man?

Had I been there, I would have given him my seat and told the Obama supporting Flight attendant to STFU.

Sargent Albert Marle was wearing a jacket lined with medals [...]

Not "Sergeant"?

Is this a British spelling?

Regards,

He hung the jacket behind his seat. Case closed.

I would have put it in the front hanger closet but thats me.

Get over it folks, at least she didn’t spit ebola on him.

It s a singular sad thing that a stupid woman did. I’ve read this story about 10 times today. It’s this overarching outrage that makes the left laugh at us.1 stupid woman, and it was taken care of. Big deal. Now let’s worry about Islam tearing up the world can we?

Much ado about nothing. All airlines have bad apples. I flew military hundreds of times over 35 yrs in the army. Many stews in all airlines( incl. US Air) wore patches and badges from all the services, they were great and proud of the military. Give them a break. This stew could have been a leftist or just having a bad day.

OK. I am going to throw this out here and catch the arrows that follow.

What if the flight attendent faced termination for violating policies? Should she risk her career to hang a soldier’s dress uniform? It’s not so easy when you take the emotion out of situation.

Did y’all know there is an FAA regulation on coat racks on aircraft?

Re: “He has been wearing the uniform on job interviews across the country while pursuing his dream to become a doctor.”

That doesn’t really make sense to me.

If you want to become a doctor, you need to go to medical school.

Why doesn’t he just stay in the Army, which probably has the best educational benefits of any job in the country?

Technically, he should not have the first class perk of having his coat hung. As a military person, they should have made the exception.

You guys all assume that these people understand the problem here.

Obviously the flight attendant had no clue.

Obviously flight attendants had gotten their ass chewed for making exceptions.

I think it was a silly and petty move by the Flight Attendant. But I understand the situation. Obviously, she did not.

It’s not WWII. Not everyone has served or knows people who have. Not everyone knows what that medals mean.

You are thinking the flight attendant was being disrespectful. I think she thought she was doing her job as instructed.

Clearly the airlines have some empowerment issues they need to deal with.

A public, written apology by the CEO *and* a pair of *first class* (so he can hang his coat up) domestic tickets is the only adequate restitution for this man.

He has been wearing the uniform on job interviews across the country while pursuing his dream to become a doctor, his family told Channel 9. They refused to comment further.

When I was in the Army, first, I would never be given time off to fly around the country for job interviews. This could only happen if I was approved to take leave; if I was on leave I was not in duty status and would not be authorized to wear the uniform. It would have definitely been a UCMJ offense to wear the uniform in public for a job interview. Second, if the guy has already ETS'd, then he is not authorized to wear the uniform at all, except for military funerals, etc. Something here isn't adding up, or maybe the rules have changed?

If I were in first class, I would have asked him to give me his jacket. Then turn right around and ask the stewardess to hang my jacket. If she gave me an argument, I would say “bullsh**, he just gave it to me. It is now my jacket and I want it hung according to my first class privileges. If you are going to refuse, I want to speak to the Captain” ( since many of the pilots are former military, I have a feeling what the answer would be )

United Airlines has the dirtiest aircraft, U.S. Airways has the stupidest cabin crews. This was news to me that U.S. Airways was still operating.
