We don't want to isolate parts of the world, or people who aren't sick, because that's going to drive patients with Ebola underground, making it infinitely more difficult to address the outbreak...

If Ebola patients go "underground" because they cannot immigrate to our country, their priorities are thoroughly messed up. Other than terrorists and freeloaders, I would expect sick people to go to their local doctor or stay home. How many non-terrorist people with this disease will really go "underground" because they can't come to the US? My guess - zero.

This guy is hoping dumbed down Americans will not catch his multiple contradictions:Versus:Whatta bunch a BULL!!

It's obvious this guy knows that restricting travel will help stop the spread of Ebola. But his liberal, PC personality won't let him say that.

Somebody (PLEASE) hire a CDC chief that will support a travel ban from ebola land. This is simply common sense. What is congress doing? Oh yea, busying themselves to become re-elected. (shaking head left and right, I am)

I am no longer surprised by anything. Well, maybe when somebody tells the truth.

I think most of us on the right are demanding quarantine procedures for those coming into the US from infected areas.

Speak for yourself. I don't want those from infected areas coming here AT ALL, and that includes US citizens and caregivers. Those who are healthy should be helping fight the disease. Those who aren't should stay there.

By letting healthy people leave and having the US military go in to save them is beyond bizarre. The US military should be on OUR borders, stopping threats (military and otherwise) from entering the US!

This whiney little political hack needs to be impeached before the US House and made to explain why he does not need to be removed from office. Also every time a federal judge rules against the will of the people, the same should happen to them.

Anyone that DoD sends to Liberia should also be quarantined for three weeks prior to being allowed contact with any other person prior to being allowed back into the country.

These lying liars who lie like to phrase solutions that are "all or nothing" so they can reject any deviation from the status quo.

I propose to allow unlimited travel, provided those who are in "hot" zones undergo adequately moinitored quarantine before being allowed to enter the US. I'd prefer they are quarantined away from the hot zone, for example, quarantine in Europe, not Africa.

I AM SO SICK OF THIS BULL/:;)$(;:&()-/ I CAN SCREAM!

You SOB, how do you think the Black Plague got to Europe? Traveling rats! How much easier to stop human travellers?

So, it’s good to isolate Ebola victims individually but NOT the nation as a whole?

What the hell is wrong with these jackasses?

So, you deny that other nations are banning travellers from those nationa in question? Will you dare call them “unfair” and “racist”?

You idiot, medical aid travel is a strawman. You want to send them, you charter flights and MATS for it. Commercial flights are moot!

And, too bad, any Americans coming from there need to be quarantined OUTSIDE OUR BORDERS until they are cleared. Maybe at consulates or something.

I called my damn Dem commie representatives yesterday about this. I don’t care what this hack says, the logical thing is CLOSE THE BORDERS!

"By letting healthy people leave and having the US military go in to save them is beyond bizarre."

True and doubly bizarre when Ebola has an incubation period of up to 21 days - and "healthy" people from infected areas have are increasingly likely to be carriers.

I have had some doubts for a long time now. I even have doubts about the sincerity of the Dallas case.

Seems pretty weird that nobody close to that Duncan guy has contracted Ebola.

I have now seen four interviews with Frieden where he is specifically asked about “banning travel by citizens from Ebola ridden countries TO the US.” Each time he answered by talking about complete isolation of these countries. He has obviously either been programmed by the Obama administration to change the subject or he’s too dumb to understand the difference. It’s not clear to me why he blurs the difference.

Since he's a Bloomberg lib -- I wonder if his subconscious mental equation isn't the potential for 50 million new liberal Democrat voters if the borders remain open balanced against the potential for 150 million deaths if the borders remain open.

(Outcome #1 is very probable and #2 is much less probable, but they are still taking a huge gamble. If they are wrong, we die.)

I think France banned flights weeks ago.

If the excuse is that commercial flights are necessary for the transportation of rescue workers, the US military should be able to handle that on a space-available basis or dedicated rescue worker flights.

I received the distinct impression that Dr. Thomas Frieden has been drinking liberal Kool-Aid so long that he can't see the difference between science and political correctness.

Hey... It comes to this simply: He’s going to be right, or he’s going to be wrong.

If he’s right then he’ll be hailed as a hero... if he’s wrong, (which I’m betting he will be), he’ll never admit it.

I’m a doctor. I know the type. This guy will never admit he’s wrong. Even if we Ebola deaths in ten different cities in the USA, he won’t advocate quaranteen.

That would be a neutral position,
their position is actually

“I think America deserves to be subject to a third world pandemic because of its oppressive history.”

We’ve barely passed 1 week.

3weeks at least from that.

Who knows, maybe it is not as bad as anyone thinks.

But I am not taking that risk now, not with so many uncertainties, except that if you get it, there is a great chance for doom.

I really hope this idiot’s letter becomes an issue in the election. This is an extremely careless attitude to have that could get a lot of people killed.

The 19th of October is the time of their supposed quarantine.

Read that somewhere yesterday.
