New Jersey Customs Agent: We're Not Prepared for Ebola
Breitbart News Network ^ | 8 Oct 2014 | Warner Todd Huston

Posted on 10/09/2014 3:07:43 PM PDT by george76

A federal customs official at New Jersey's Newark International Airport says that they are not trained or equipped to face passengers who might be infected with Ebola.

...

The agent, who wanted to stay anonymous, noted that no doctors or CDC personnel had been assigned to his airport for any flights from Africa or countries with connecting flights to Ebola effected areas.

...

This unnamed Customs agent isn't the only one saying that few are prepared for Ebola. A nurses union recently contradicted the CDC's Dr. Thomas Frieden who claimed that all of America's hospitals are ready for Ebola.

The union said that nurses don’t feel adequately trained, that few hospitals have enough protocols put in place and that many hospitals don't even have enough protective gear in storerooms to handle an outbreak.

This has to be scary for customs or immigration people who have to interact with every passenger entering from Africa. And now Britain may be infected.

no kidding.

neither is cdc.

proven.

they wouldn’t be even if they were. it’s just not possible for people to follow protocols 100% all the time. it’s one thing if it’s dangerous but less than lethal. Another if it’s ebola.

Anybody got some upcoming travel plans? I’m thinking that it is all tenuous at the moment and with a few more cases in North America, it wouldn’t take much to shut down international travel.

No kidding. Videoconferencing could get real popular in lieu of travel.

The virus has up to a 21 DAY INCUBATION PERIOD.

The only sane ting to do is to SHUT DOWN FLIGHTS from west Africa.

Admit NO PASSENGERS that have a passport showing they have been in an Ebola infected nation in the last 30-45 days. Period!!!Cancel their visas. We are becoming the "Roach Motel" of communicable diseases. The southern border is a sieve. Now Obama wants to amplify the risk to Americans even more. I think he hates Americans more than Hitler hated the Jews.

About 3 weeks ago, I was setting up a trip to fly into Myrtle Beach for the 3rd or 4th week in October.
As Ebola jumped into the headlines I stopped making plans. I won't go near a plane until this is settled.
I'm sure I'm not alone.

Thomas Eric Duncan's flight to Dulles was from Brussels. So the US also needs to revoke all travel visas issued to travelers from the ebola countries and screen international arrivals for recent visits to those countries. Will Obama do this? Doubtful.

And I won’t get on any plane to leave Myrtle Beach! If I can’t drive there.....I’m not going! Absolutely NO planes for me.

There is not a snow balls chance he would do what is right. Have the rats played the race card yet?

I had to laugh when they said in TX they were ready, when the virus is most communicable is when it’s in the prodromal stage hours before any symptoms appear when nobody knows they have it...they can stick their thermometers you know where, the virus will spread before symptoms appear.

nobody is ready, didn’t they just run out of the drug to treat it? and what happens when thousands come down with it...then what????

oh, and who paid for the treatment of the last 3-4 victims? Does Obola care cover this??

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...
