Let's start with the national picture, then move to key Senate races. In a fresh CBS News poll, Republicans hold a six point lead on the generic Congressional ballot -- matching their final 2010 margin in this series:
As a point of comparison, Fox's national survey released last week had the GOP ahead by a similar margin, 47-40. It's historically rare for Republicans to have any advantage on this indicator, so what explains their substantial edge here? How about a 30 point lead among independents, and an eight-point enthusiasm gap. And then there's this…

Yeah, really, where it at???
They are not in enough trouble.
Democrat Party should cease to be viable, even extinct.
I’d like to know how much in taxpayer dollars Soetoro has spent over the past six years doing “fundraisers” for his commie ‘RAT comrades.
We have cancellations of existing health policies still ahead of us. It's going to be an interesting October.
The news is all good. The reason being is that it is incredibly difficult to dislodge a sitting Senator. A Senate Seat is the closest thing to job security that can be found in elective politics.
If the Republicans can take the Senate and then some, maybe even run the table on close elections, they should hold it for at least two cycles.
Now if we could only get Cruz both nominated and elected. Then we would maybe see some return to Liberty in this country.
Don't believe me? Even now the Republican leadership is lowering expectations about what they'll do if they take the Senate in 2014.
You worried about a Democrat Senate approving Obama's judicial nominees? Well maybe you should listen to John McCain saying what will happen if the Republicans win the Senate: I will work very hard to go back to 60 votes, said Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who boldly predicts a Republican Senate would process Obamas nominees more rapidly than [Democrats] do today.
And as for the House: John Boehner: Very Few Republicans Will Oppose Me
So tell me again how much better off we'll be voting for the RINOs.
If it wins the Senate, the current Republican leadership and RINOcrat candidates will do nothing to save our nation (assuming it is still capable of being saved), and the anger of the electorate will be aimed at them in 2016, as Hillary comes in and promises to save us.
And she will probably win, unless the GOP valiantly articulates, expresses and supports conservative candidates and the conservative agenda and has a credible conservative firebrand -- preferably Ted Cruz -- running against her.
If, on the other hand, the GOPe RINOcrats lose the general election, they will be forced to move immediately to the so-called "Right," and their their proven-loser moderate mainstream candidates (Romney, Christie, Bush, Huckabee) will never get past the primaries in 2016.
And Karl Rove will be a distant memory.
So which is better, if we win the Senate now or lose it?
Honestly, long term, I think it's better that we lose it this time.
I’ve been waiting for those leftist Dems to receive a comeuppance since 2006 when they took over the senate. In 2006 I was a college student working in a newsroom full of liberals cheering for the Dems to take over congress, that sucked. I’ll be celebrating for months if those cocky jerks lose the senate in 2014 and the presidency in 2016, hopefully it’s Cruz.
Depending on what you want to call them the 4th or 5th Column, (i.e. his lackeys in the Lame Steam Media) they must be giving him at least 5 to 10 points for all the stories they don't report.
I'd love to know that "really underwater" number, my guess is he is close to or at Nixon's numbers....
A meteor during the SOTU address would do just fine.
If you are still their, have a custom made Ice Cream Cake that spells "REVENGE" and serve it too them in the break room. Yes it is best served cold....:-)
we need to purge the careerists in the bureaucracy in DC.
Just cut the do nothing jobs and the rest of the desk jockey staff 25%.
The ISIS bombing campaign is having it's desired effect: no meaningful damage to the jihadists but a slight boost in Obama's polls prior to the election.
LOL, thanks, I graduated in 08 and decided that I didn’t want to work for the DNC PR machine known as the press. Now I have a career in marketing it provides more money, better hours and less libs!
No. I'm holding out for Metorite during the SOTU. It would get them all, right down to the greasy lobbyists.
Oh, and while we're messing around with celestial objects, lets have one hit mecca..... now.
If the GOP wave is really as big as it looks to be, and the Dems keep tossing Barry under the bus, don’t rule out this possible scenario.
Obama decides “I’m not getting squat done for the next two years, and I’m sick of this job anyway. I resign. Off to play golf. Joe Biden is now your President. Joe, you have the stack of pardons you have to sign in the top left-hand drawer. Scroooo you, Hillary!”
Never underestimate the will of Republicans to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
most decisions are made by lower court judges.
