The federal government is spending nearly a half a million dollars to find out why obese teenage girls have a hard time getting dates.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) awarded a $466,642 grant last week for the study, which will examine whether social skills have an impact on why obese girls have fewer dating experiences than their less obese counterparts.
“Mounting evidence demonstrates that weight influences intimate (i.e., dating and sexual) relationship formation and sexual negotiations among adolescent girls,” the grant’s abstract states. “Obese girls consistently report having fewer dating and sexual experiences, but more sexual risk behaviors (i.e., condom nonuse) once they are sexually active.”
“The conceptual framework that has guided this research presumes that differences in the social skills for relating to peers and intimate partners along with differences in the relationship experiences of obese and non-obese girls account for these differences,” it said.
“However, no studies have actually examined whether the interpersonal skills and intimate relationships of obese and non-obese girls differ.”
Professors at the Magee-Womens Research Institute and Foundation in Pittsburgh will try to answer this question over the next four years. The end date for the project is listed as May 2018.

This was determined by a study a long time ago... Studies have shown that men seem to use an embedded subconscious selection criteria that relates to a woman being able to conceive and deliver a child... regardless of modern influences otherwise...
The researchers found that if a man’s visual observation of a woman does not reveal that she has a widening of the pelvis that would allow for childbirth then she is not chosen. Excess fat around the waist disguises this in fat women. So men go on to the next woman and so on.
Also that with very skinny women - almost emaciated - men pass them up too as it is subconsciously determined that she could not nurture a child via nursing - milk production...
And ample breasts are subconsciously seen by men as more than just sexual attractions... rather they are seen as having the ability to nurse a child...

I’ll bet Revlon and other cosmetics companies do studies like this all the time to help them market their wares to fat women. They’ll steer their ads to the self-perceived needs of the obese.
So why should the gubmint pay for studies that private industry can and probably does do? Will the researchers turn around and sell their info to the highest bidder? And they repay the government?

Actually, this study might have a purpose; looks like Michelle’s attempts to get lard-a$$ed teenagers off of xBox’s and Doritos, and they are now looking at the long-term future implications of this.
