Do you have a social anxiety disorder that prevents you from pounding the pavement, filling out job applications? That's a disability! Obesity from sitting around on your couch all day drinking beer? That's a disability! So is your alcoholism! Depressed because a high-paying job won't magically materialize in your lap? Congrats! You're officially disabled! KA-CHING!!! $$$$$$$
Someone I’m close to who has learned to work the system informed me that being homeless has now been linked to an anxiety disorder (being homeless makes you anxious of course) that qualifies you for disability and other services.
I honestly don’t know what world I was living in, but when I found out people were on disability because they were drunks I was floored. I simply could not believe it. Now divorced, my X is applying for SSDI for (drum roll) being a drunk. And the X will probably get it too.
