He says controlling outbreak requires controlling
Africa and there “we need regular travel”.
Cutoff “will be damaging to those countries”.
He purports no help will come to Africa
unless there is commercial traffic
(to bring diseases to all American cities).
He says
“Can’t spread Ebola unless you have symptoms”.
He deliberately ignores that the dead spread,
sex spreads, and that there is latency in other primates,
and there could be subclinical spread,
latent persistent disease, and the possibility
of other carriers.
He closes “end of Press availability”.
I love how they pick the time when perhaps 100 million Americans are engrossed with football to schedule this.

Undoubtedly Pat Roberts would reestablish residency in Kansas, after a short break of 40 years.
They are doubling down on their positions of not restricting air travel and having haphazard quarantines of close contact exposures. They oppose reasonable concerns for no other reason than that their critics hold these concerns.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...

Just 100 cases could bankrupt a private health insurance carrier if they are treated with maximum effort to contain and cure the patient.
Waste of time.
Because their opponents hold views? That’s stupid, potentially suicidal, an even more potentially putting all sorts of people in harm’s way. Sometimes the people back in the days where polio and TB were problematic had more sense in their heads than our government has now. Even NASA quarrantined Apollo Astronauts as a precaution against space germs.
