Dallas Ebola patient is in critical condition, hospital says

Dallas (CNN) -- Thomas Eric Duncan, the first Ebola patient diagnosed in the United States, is now in critical condition, a Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital spokeswoman said Saturday. The Liberian man had previously been listed as being in serious condition. Hospital spokeswoman Candace White offered no new details other than his condition. Earlier, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Duncan was in intensive care. About 10 people are at "higher risk" of catching Ebola after coming into contact with Duncan but have shown no symptoms, health officials said Saturday. The group is among 50 people being monitored daily, but the other 40 are considered "low risk," said Dr. David Lakey, the commissioner of Texas department of state health services. The nine people who had definite contact with the Ebola patient -- including family members and health care professionals -- have been monitored and show no symptoms or fevers, Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said Saturday." We have already gotten well over 100 inquiries of possible patients," Frieden told reporters. "We've assessed every one of those ... and just this one patient has tested positive ... We expect that we will see more rumors or concerns or possibilities of cases, until there is a positive laboratory test, that is what they are." Health officials did not provide details on the location of those being monitored or where they interacted with Duncan. Monitoring includes a visit from a public health expert and temperature checks twice a day. None of them has had symptoms of Ebola so far, according to Lakey. The latest figure is a drastic reduction of a number that started at 100 after initial talks with Duncan and hospital officials.

Why should the taxpayers be footing the bill for the stupidity of that damn hospital?

That was my understanding too—that he was tired and shagged out from a long flight. I believed him to be resting.
But upon further examination, and due to his complete lack of movement, this particular Liberian Blue does appear in fact to be an ex-African parrot.
This is a dead parrot.

September 15, 2014: Duncan takes his friend and neighbor Nathaline Williams, 19 who is seven months pregnant, in a cab to a hospital in Monrovia, Liberia, believing that she is having a miscarriage. She dies from Ebola.

September 19, 2014: Duncan leaves Monrovia on Brussels Airlines Flight 1247 to Brussels, Belgium. He then takes United Airlines Flight 951 from Brussels to Washington Dulles.

September 20, 2014: Duncan leaves Washington Dulles on United Flight 822 to Dallas Texas. He reportedly was not showing symptoms.

September 24, 2014: Duncan begins to show symptoms.

September 26, 2014: Duncan goes to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. He is examined and sent home with antibiotics.

September 28, 2014: Dallas fire rescue is called to the apartment complex in Dallas where Duncan is staying. He is taken to the same hospital and admitted.

September 29, 2014: A relative, Josephus Weeks, calls the 800 number of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and is told to call the state health department.

September 30, 2014: Medical tests confirm that Duncan has Ebola. The CDC and state health officials call a press conference and alert the public.

It is no wonder that Texas state health officials are looking at about 100 people who may have had contact with Duncan or his relatives. There should be a way to screen for this virus in its early stages in the body. Then, when symptoms begin to show, there should be tests made to determine if it's Ebola. It was six days after symptoms began that Ebola was determined. If I were infected because of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital's misdiagnosis of Duncan, I would be touching the sue button. If Duncan knew he had the Ebola infection and left Liberia to get better treatment in America, he should be charged with aggravated assault (if he lives).

I wish Mr. Duncan a full recovery. The reason for this is I wish that evil man to reside in the Texas Penal System for the rest of his life. He put us in danger and knew he put us in danger. He is an evil little bastard that needs to go to jail for his entire life. He will be quite safe there. Say Ebola to "Bubba" and Bubba say "Aint Gonna Happen."

Thank you for that timeline. It is hopeful that his onset of symptoms (and when Ebola can be spread) was 10 days ago and no news that his close relatives have it.
