The GOPe wing of Free Republic requires that the Conservative wing of Free Republic swallow our distaste for their Democrat-Lite Karl Rove Approved (TM) candidates in order to win seats labeled (R) at the expense of conservative principle.
Okay, let's put the shoe on the other foot: If Ted Cruz is winning 45% of the Republican vote in early primaries, will you require your Karl Rove Approved (TM) candidate withdraw and unreservedly throw your support behind the winning candidate Ted Cruz?
Slightly differently stated, are you primarily interested in beating Democrats or Conservatism?
Ditch Mitch.
(Assuming a broad field in which several other candidates are below Ted’s 45%.... shoulda been more obvious about the usual conditions that obtain....)

I’m with you, Miltie. . . you got a really good point about the GOPe crowd appearing to to want to beat conservatives more than they want to beat leftist Rats. Methinks they are more interested in preserving their place at the Uncle Sugar hog trough, even if that means the Rats own the Senate.
Noting for the record that as of Post #8 the GOPe weenies who argue with me all day are noticeably absent.

Like Ronald Reagan in his time, I think Ted Cruz is here for a purpose. And, like Ronald Reagan, I think a vast majority of Americans, of every political party, are going to support him.

I’m with you old time Freeper. I’ve been here a while too and on many times called out radical republicans in their blind rush to join the other lemmings in jumping over the political cliff.
The GOP-E is only interested in getting one “their kind” elected so that crony capitalism can go in unhindered. That’s why they are now in total love with the thought of running another loser in the race.....Romney.
You have to understand the republican philosophy...you stay in politics until either you get rich or die.
