Dallas braces for second Ebola case

Dallas health officials are bracing for a possible second case of the deadly Ebola virus connected to the infected man now in isolation.

Dallas County Health and Human Services Director Zachary Thompson said there is one particular contact of the patient who he fears may have Ebola.

"Let me be real frank to the Dallas County residents: the fact that we have one confirmed case, there may be another case that is a close associate with this particular patient," Thompson said Wednesday morning in an interview with local ABC affiliate WFAA.

"So this is real. There should be a concern, but it's contained to the specific family members and close friends at this moment."

Thompson did not provide further detail about the potential case, only saying that he or she is under strict monitoring as a precaution.

A visitor to Dallas from Liberia was officially diagnosed with Ebola Tuesday afternoon, the first case ever confirmed outside of Africa.

Team seeks anyone who encountered Ebola patient

Of course we're keeping the identity of the patient secret, so it'll be that much harder to identify people who have been in contact.

Van Susteren... now report that there is NO second case of ebola in Texas.

She heard the initial "test" was negative. Now the actual TEST, seeing what occurs over the incubation period, over the next 2 weeks.

Can almost guess that this is the last bit of ebola news we get for the USA. Obama doesn't want to panic us.

I'm worried about the kids with the flu that are exhibiting polio symptoms.

Greta Van Susteren 15m15 minutes ago now report that there is NO second case of ebola in Texas.

This is asinine. The docs and the patients themselves do not know. There is a variable incubation period up to a month.

Do you know if the first Ebola patient’s initial test came back positive or negative? I know that both the CDC and a lab in Texas both showed positive for the first Ebola patient...just not sure if it was initial or later testing?

Dear Greta - I’ll be shocked if there is no second (or third, or fourth or hundreth) case of ebola in the US. So, STFU.

Hugs and kisses,
me

I only heard, today, about the initial test for the 2nd ebola pt. No idea about the first pt. Good question...

I don’t know...but if the second potential Ebola victim has the same symptoms as the first patient and they had contact with each other in September, I would imagine that it is more than just a coincidence. Then again...I am not sure how accurate the initial tests are vs later tests.

I knew they were lying to us when they said there was nothing to worry about.
If the administration of this country were sane they would have closed the borders to any and all affected countries. But they wouldn’t do it for obvious reasons.

“Obama could have stopped all flights coming from Ebola infected countries.”

No that would have made sense. Can’t allow that.

I guess they know enough to clear the paramedics of Ebola? Again...I don’t have a clue how the initial tests vs a test within the next 21 days works?

We can keep our doctors until our doctors become too afraid and stay home like the vast majority of African doctors and nurses have done.

It doesn't matter whether there's a second case in Dallas, does it? I mean, unless we've stopped receiving flights from west Africa, and sealed the borders, it's just a matter of time before someone else comes down with it.

Let me once again take this opportunity to say a big fat "Thanks" to the stupid American voters who put leftists in control of the free world. Twice. Dumb@$$e$.

What Obama meant was if you like your Ebola you can keep your Ebola

And those who voted for him. Obviously they’re dumb and we won’t want them in our new world.
