It still amazes me how a force of an estimated 30,000, spread across a wide swath of Iraq and Syria, can blow through the Iraqi army like a hot knife through warm batter, while decimating the Syrians at the same time. Are they THAT much better as fighters?

WTF is going on out there?

Muslim armies are usually put to rout by a determined opponent, even when that opponent is greatly outnumbered.

The iraq armed forces are mixed sunni and shia. The shia run because the sunni turn on them . Pretty simple. Once al qaedq enters Baghdad shape but we must stop bombing. With only 1600 advisers we are in relal bd shape. The sadr malitia is huge in sadr city but al qaeda wont go there. They will go to the green zone and the american embassy.

I strongly suspect that ISIS or at least ISIS sympathizers hold many positions in the Iraqi army.

ISIS’s ability to utilize the stolen American equipment leads me to this conclusion. These guys operating the stolen equipment probably got trained on it - by US advisors, when they were our ‘friends’ in the Iraqi army.

The one thing that perplexes me, though. We have air superiority. ISIS should not be able to operate an army in the wide open spaces between these Iraqi cities. Just a few bombing runs should do enormous damage to ISIS. Not destroying some empty building in Syria...but cluster bombs on the troops in the field, where they are sleeping. At very least, those long convoys of pickup trucks should be phenomenally easy to destroy...but we don’t.

I always thought our departure from Afghanistan would be Saigon 2.0. Who knew there was now another contender.

“It’s almost as if obama wants them to succeed...”

ALMOST? This is all part of Muslim Obama’s plan and yet the morons in this country refuse to recognize it for what it is.

Nice gig ya got there, Rick Moran.

I don’t recall an article of yours on American Thinker that wasn’t written with out side help. A large portion of your articles consist of excerpts from articles written by others.

Like I said, nice gig.

I have thought that as well. ISIS has NO air assets. With total air superiority, we should be able to crush those Toyota truck convoys easily. This is what comes of having a non-leader in the White House, who despises American power.

Exactly! This is desert not jungles.

The only answer is Obama is playing politics (does not want Iraq entanglements) AND he is sympathetic to ISIS’s cause. I believe it has to be an AND because how could even a pacificist allow a Nazi-style entity like ISIS to just take over countries. I know he made political commitments to stay out of Iraq etc but that alone doesn’t sufficiently explain it for me.

I’m certain that the embassy is the prize.

No air assets, but they do have some 3,000 missing MANPADs from Benghazi.

A thousand dead soldiers is NOT a clash.

ISIS is undertaking a full assault on Baghdad and the American media is honoring the White House request to not make a big deal out of it.

That's as certain as the day is long.

Gee, then they own our multi-billion dollar embassy that we abandoned.

The United States if being played for fools... It's not just the embassy - did you hear Turkey's not helping... this after billions and billions of dollars were thrown down the rat hole of their country? Maybe we're too stupid to be a first world country...

When discipline breaks in an Army, it's usually sudden and catastrophic for every solider.

They become individuals fighting an Army.

The ONLY thing that seems to motivate and Arab soldier is Jihad. Absent that they're just homosexual pedophiles playing soldier.

I hear you.... I’d just thought out of the 350,000 or so in the Iraqi military, there’d be a core group that wouldn’t drop and run at first round downrange.

Megyn did an outstanding interview with the Vicar. She was sincere, warm-hearted and compassionate and clearly was worried about him and those Christians that he serves.

I just cried as I listened to this wonderful man describe what is going on there. I couldn’t help it, he is so brave. He should not have to go through this trauma! I will pray for him.

Well the fight for the Green Zone should be interesting. There *ARE* 500 IUS Marines there. Will we be seeing helicopter evacuations ala Vietnam soon?

Maybe they can take it, but I doubt they can hold it. Too many Shi’a, too close to Iran. Just my $0.02.
