NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Roger Susanin) -- A little-known Metro Parks & Recreation regulation requires people pay $125 for a permit to take photos or shoot video at Nashville public parks.

Prohibition was law, if I'm not mistaken, and that law was made to go away--by popular demand IIRC.
I recently took photos at the Parthenon. I did not know about the regulation.
To whom should I send my check?
This is satire right?
CO bureaucrats might get ideas from that.
Paging John Semmens
Obama- nation.
UPDATE (9/29, 9:42 PM): Metro parks spokeswoman Jackie Jones tells FOX 17 the security guard was mistaken to ask an amateur photographer for a photo permit.
Wonder if that means a professional photographer would still have to show a permit. In any case, it's still ludicrous.
Are we getting the whole story — or are some key facts being excluded, in the interests of creating some drama?
The video shows the regulation in question — or a selected part of at, at least. It talks about “the event” in several places — but Fox cropped out preceding sections that might have provided context. So, does this rule actually apply to everyone wanting to snap a photo, at any time (which is what the reporters imply) — or does it only apply when there’s an associated “event”? Did the photographer that was told about the fee have a big setup (lights, reflectors, etc.) and was he hogging some space while he worked? If so, maybe a fee is justified.
You can send it to me. I’ll make sure the right person gets it.
Somebody is on crack.
late last week was tge abbiubcenent if a `1500 dollar fee to shoot photos in wllderness areas,,and a 1k fine for those lacking the oermit,
now this
will other municipalities be following suit??
Sounds like an archaic rule that well predated the Brownie camera let alone the cellphone.
Are they going fine e Google and all the other satellite and mapping services for taking pictures of “public” parks?
Taking a page from those freaks you see on vacation , take my picture and it will cost you X amount
Google has been doing well, can I collect a few bucks for having my house on streetview?
How about the overhead shot?
The map?
You have ID noting you are “Blood of Tyrants”?
Prices vary; credentialed news crews are exempt.
I know of a film school there that makes the kids get permits as part of a class project; not cheap at $35/day.
I don't believe the permits are required for amateurs.
One thing it does do is keep photographers from setting up and harassing tourists.
