Mark Levin’s Simple Plan to Put a Conservative in the White House
The Daily Signal ^ | 9-30-14 | Melissa Quinn

Posted on 09/30/2014 8:49:06 AM PDT by afraidfortherepublic

Hard-charging radio commentator Mark Levin is sick of waiting for the Republican Party to nominate a conservative for president, and today he outlined his plan to accomplish just that.

Speaking at the Values Voter Summit in Washington, the talk radio giant and bestselling author issued a call to action to the crowd of social conservatives, prescribing a grassroots movement to elect a conservative to the White House in 2016.

Levin lamented that Americans under age 50 haven’t yet had the chance to vote for a true conservative such as Ronald Reagan for president and called on conference attendees to spend the next six months laying the groundwork for the 2016 election.

>> Mark, Reagan had a real record when he ran in 1980. <<

If Reagan ran today, I think Levin and most of his worshippers would be calling Reagan "a senile old RINO career politician from California who had his chance in 1976 and blew it". They'd all demand we "get behind" Ben Fernandez for President, who is a "businessman from the private sector and not a professional politician like California RINO Ronnie" Anyone who questioned whether Fenandez was the "true conservative" in the race or the Tea Party savior would be attacked by a choir of "GOPE! GOPE! GOPE! GOPE! GOPE!! GOPE!!"

Q: "How is Reagan a 'RINO' when he ran against Ford's liberal record and backed Goldwater long before it was popular to embrace conservative values?

A: "You support the old geezer ESTABLISHMENT RINO Ronnie instead of TEA PARTY Ben Fenandez?! Why do you hate America? GOPE! GOPE! GOPE! GOPE! GOPE! GOPE! GOPE! GOPE!

Exactly. Not just in the media, in the GOP itself.

When the leadership of a party declares war on you and your ideology, how and why we would continue to think we can work within such a party to advance our cause and ideology is just an illustration of insanity being practiced.

“From an election perspective, it keeps happening,” Levin said. “The Republican establishment picks off conservatives.”

To prevent this from happening during the presidential primaries, Levin called on conservatives to rally behind one or two candidates who are “articulate, intelligent, charismatic.”

Once that occurs, he said, the grassroots should rally behind those candidates.

I agree with Mark that this is the only path to a primary victory for a conservative. It sounds simple enough, but it remains to be seen how simple it will be in execution. Ted Cruz appears to be the probable candidate with the largest percentage of grassroots conservative support going into the primaries. But, conservatives have been most notable in recent memory for splitting the vote and letting the GOP-e candidate waltz into the general nearly untouched.

Problem is there's about a dozen people out there calling themselves conservative and believing they are more "articulate, intelligent, charismatic" than the other guys. How do you keep all but two or three from running?

I read the article and saw zero mention of the Electoral College.

We have great potential candidates, and in my dreams Cruz would be elected by a landslide.. but we somehow have to solve the Electoral College problem.

You are forgetting the GOP Leadership working hand-in-hand with Democrats to bash Conservative candidates and tarnish them with every mud-slinging vile and despicable political trick in the books to ensure they waltz into a general election nearly uncontested.

Then there's the infiltration of Leftists/Libertarians trying to run as Conservatives for the purpose of achieving the chaos we see.

If Cruz starts gaining traction in the presidential race watch for the liberals in both parties to go nuclear on him. The blows will reign down on him from the democrat and the republican leftist and it will make Palin’s attacks seem like a walk in the park.

Saying that if Cruz runs he has my support 100%!

If Conservatives continue to think they can “Win” by playing on the GOP team, we will forever be rendered irrelevant.

And a conservative third party will split the potential right-leaning vote, guaranteeing a leftist victory. Rock, meet hard place.

We’re not going to stop where we have arrived by playing in the Status Quo box that is for certain.

Rock and hard place - it’s the new normal pal.

The government and the institutions that enable and support it are so corrupted, so transformed into a mafioso operation, that we may be beyond any civil means of rectifying where this juggernaut has taken us.

The election system is as corrupted as the IRS and the Just-Us department, the arguments over ‘splitting votes’ and enabling Leftist ‘victory’ seem absurd when everything has been taken over by the political mafia and retooled to ensure their rule.

There is no fixing the federal Beast from within the system they have corrupted for themselves. Few are willing to face that truth, most of us are infected with a fatal case of Normalcy Bias.

I usually catch his first half hour and he spins up a fantasy history of Reagan for his audience.

On his show Reagan is both idealized and idolatrized,
that's talk radio, fantasy,

‘The show is on’

I will always regard RR as the greatest POTUS ever, but to ignore some liberal laws he signed into law as CA Gov. would be factually wrong to do.

“... will always regard RR as the greatest POTUS ever, ...”

Me too.

He wasn’t perfect - he’s human - but he set the bar for how a President should be pretty damned high.

He had honor, integrity, and wasn’t afraid to poke fun at those who poked fun at him.

He was an American first, foremost, and unabashedly so. To me, that’s admirable.

And he made America a better place, after the debacle of the worthless Peanut Farmer from Georgia.

Proud to have been able to vote for him in my first Presidential election.

Jimmy Carter wasn't bad in a crisis.

His strong leadership got us through the hostage crisis.

He had the Iranians eating out of his hand.

I posted it too late unfortunately as this thread is on life support.

When I post something like that as one of the first few comments on a thread I usually get at least one or live ones for entertainment.
