Schools scramble to help teens who crossed border

FRANKFORD, Del. — American schools are scrambling to provide services to the large number of children and teenagers who crossed the border alone in recent months.

Officials were caught off guard by about 70 new students mostly from Guatemala — part of the wave crossing the border — enrolling last year, mostly at Sussex Central High School.

The students are eager but face barriers. Some can barely read or write in their native language.

Donald Hattier, a school board member, said advance warning would have helped with planning. The federal government, he said, "just dropped this on us." He wonders what's next.

"The kids are still coming across the border. This problem has not been solved," Hattier said.

Enough of this crap. If the Democrats need future constituents, they should appeal to voters on issues and NOT import them from Mexico.

The game is already over. The seeds have been planted. I went to my granddaughter’s school to have lunch with her last year. I was shocked to see 95& of her kindergarten class was Mexican. I told my daughter, you need to get her outta here. She won’t learn anything this year, while they try to teach them English. I thought, sure they have a few Mexican families on their street but where He11 did all the rest come from?

They all came from the offices of Future Democrat Voters of (Illegal) America.

There’s a reason they’re not being sent home, and it has absolutely nothing to do either with finding them or managing the inconvenience and expense of giving them a bus ride home.

I live in Texas and I encourage each Texan to visit their local school. The future does not look good. Within 20 years the entire Southwest will be majority Mexican, probably a shorter time than that.

“The students are eager but face barriers” vs. “Some can barely read or write in their native language”

Does NOT compute

Tell me Juan, and Jaun’s parents, how ‘eager’ does one need to NOT learn in your home country, but take the time/$$/patience of the host country where you currently/illegally reside?

How is it again that a Citizen must provide documentation out the wazoo, spend the time/$$ to assure all is in compliance, but little Juan the illegal (whom has NO documentation) gets right in???

Correction illegal ALIEN. Immigrants, such as my great/grand-parents came the U.S. to become Citizens...and did so LEGALLY. These have NO interest to assimilate, become Citizens, let alone legally.

Sorry, pet peeve of mine: Begin the debate with the correct verbiage.

Sorry, just my contention, and completely MHO, that’s why ‘we’ lose. Concede any point for failure to utilize the words, and their CORRECT meaning, the debate is lost before it begins.
