A Georgia woman was mistakenly jailed for one month after cops confused her SpaghettiOs for meth.

Ashley Gabrielle Huff was first detained on July 2 after officers in Gainesville found a spoon with a dried substance baked onto it inside her car during a routine traffic stop.

The 23-year-old, from Commerce, claimed it was residue from the canned pasta that she liked to eat in the vehicle.

Police, however, believed it to be methamphetamine.

Huff, who had no criminal history, was sent to Hall County Jail for two days so cops could conduct crime lab tests on the mysterious texture.

Georgia is crazy on some drugs. Every state has its crazy-zone. New York is crazy on guns.

But even for this crazy state, it's pretty pathetic to mistake spagetti-o's for meth.

Also, she was only a passenger in the car. So how could they claim the spoon belonged to her? Run a DNA test? Wasting taxpayer money.

She deserved to be in jail for having such bad taste.

While she was waiting for the results to come back, Huff was also ordered as part of her court arraignment to seek drug counseling.

This very ACT perpetrated by the Judge tells me that EVERY LAST PERSON involved in this FELONY KIDNAPPING, EXTORTION PLOT deserve LIFE IN PRISON. Why would ANYONE ever believe ANYTHING a COP ever has to say??

Perhaps they were thinking asset forfeiture? Seems unlikely then again these guys don’t seen all that keen either. In any event its interesting how she was assumed guilty until proven innocent. Seems backwards doesn’t it....

You should be held in protective custody until you learn to read articles.

She ate the Spaghetti with a spoon.

A spoon.

Not with her tongue off the bodywork.

Yeah I though cops carried drug test kits in their patrol cars.

W T F!!! Licking spaghetti-o residue from the inside of her car...W T F! I’m a guy and therefore by the mere virtue of me being a guy I am a firm believer and supporter of “the 5 second rule,” but this chick takes disgusting to an entirely different level — I have never licked anything from the inside of a car, ever...W T F is wrong with this person. Maybe they were holding her in protective custody so she wouldn’t lick the sidewalk for gum...

Love for you to quote the line where she's licking anything.

You have never eaten in your car? Never left a spoon overnight? There was a little reside dried around the edge I think... sometimes I think we FReepers are really rough on people (myself included...). Who knows, she could be someone who works two jobs, and gets from one to the other quickly and eats her lunch as she goes, or in the parking lot before she goes in. The point is, they arrested her, jailed her for two days, forced her into drug rehab which she did not do, then jailed her for a month. Just to find it was exactly what she said it was, a little dried spaghetti sauce on a spoon. I would have a nervous breakdown if this happened to me!

Not guilty of a thing, yet she had to fork out a couple of hundred dollars a week for this 'counseling'.

Please consult my tagline for an explanation.

The mug shot explains why they thought it was meth.

Not really, everyone is guilty nowadays in the eyes of a majority of LEOs. Got pulled over for touching the white line at 630am, Officer Krupke smelled pot and wanted to search my car. I laughed and said maybe 45 yrs ago if I had this car, there might be pot in it. He blew up and accused me of getting smart with him. Couldn't believe it. Told him, no thanks, you can't search my car, get a warrant. He let me sit there for 25 minutes while he did whatever in his car, then gave me a warning ticket. BTW, I am early 60s and was dressed for work(suit and tie).

LEOs have a tough job, but over the past 10 years it seems that they are not getting quality folks to do the job. I know my views on them have changed drastically over the past 10 years owing to 4 or 5 different benign instances with them.

the cops and judge would get to spend a month in jail in addition to paying huge settlements out of their own pockets ... and they need to spend a year in prison. Not a month. They need to be saddled with a felony conviction for this.

She should have washed the spoon.

Agreed, meth heads don’t look anything like this girl. The only problem with whacking the system is they simply raise our taxes or find someone’s property to steal and pawn. I’d love to see the COPs involved be put on a road crew for a few months and the ‘judge’ and DA should be disbarred. Having less lawyers and lazy judges is always good.

If it was a "routine" traffic stop, why was the car searched? Or did the cops just figure she was poor and stupid, and that counts as an automatic waiver of Fourth Amendment rights?

The car was searched because like most people she didn't know you can tell the cops NO!

She should sue the judge too since he ordered her to get treatment when he had no proof she was using drugs. In this judges court she was guilty until proven innocent. Criminal charges should be brought against both the cops and the judge.

Years ago I had a friend who in his past had gotten really good at unlawful entry of cars for the express reason of stealing their stereos.

One day, well after getting his life together he came upon someone trying to get into their own car with a coat hanger. Just as he began a cop arrived with a slim Jim. The each took a door and the race began. As I recall, he lost to the officer by just a couple seconds.
