Gay and bisexual men represent an estimated 2% of the U.S. population but more than half of all people living with HIV and 66% of new HIV infections. They are the only population group in the United States for which HIV infections are rising. Projections have shown that if current trends continue, half of all gay and bisexual men will be HIV-positive by age 50.

From what I have been able to tell, not as much, but often their need to be “tough” or “manlike” a.k.a. drug and booze use, causes problems of its own.
f you are talking magnitude, I will certainly agree. There are problems, but issues of fidelity, let’s just say that the information I heard about Patient Zero, I couldn’t believe my ears. This man had so many partners he couldn’t remember them all, and nobody cared about containment of a fatal disease either!
That actually makes sense. People isolated to just others with HIV can’t do much harm to each other when they already have HIV.

Bizarre, yes. But then, a man who wants a stranger's willy up his pooper has already displayed some cognitive - as well as some other - difficulties.
To a point. Treatment isn't effective on every carrier, and for the ones that do respond, the severe side effects of the meds can be life-threatening, or at least life-shortening.
Additionally, failure to abide by a strict medication regiment (measured by HOURS) can cause the virus to mutate, decreasing the effectiveness of the treatment for the carrier. And homos aren't known for being the most responsible individuals, considering that they contracted the disease in the first place.
WHOA! Drop everything people. We must find a cure! Of course the easiest way to contain the disease was celibacy, but not for our randy rump rangers.
