Colleges should spend less time on sexual political correctness
Daily Mail ^ | 29 September 2014 | Snejana Farberov for MailOnline

"Self-described 'dissident feminist' Camille Paglia has written an op-ed piece for Time Magazine arguing that female college students are naive and careless about the true nature of men as sexual predators.

Paglia, 67, a professor at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, penned the column this week in reaction to the recent abduction of University of Virginia sophomore Hannah Graham, 18, who was last seen two weeks ago in the company of a 32-year-old nursing assistant.

Jesse Matthew was captured in Texas last week and charged with abduction with intent to defile, but so far there is no sign of Graham.

In her provocative opinion piece, Paglia builds her argument on the premise that young, college-age women often become victims of sexual assault because they have a false sense of security and do not keep their guard up in public places.

Dismissing claims about an epidemic of sex assaults on campuses as 'wildly overblown,' the well-respected social critic writes that the true danger to female students is 'the ancient sex crime of abduction and murder.'"

I have to agree; if these women were not getting plastered all the time, they wouldn't be getting taken advantage of. Young women need to understand that in the real world, they need to start becoming more responsible about their own personal safety and it is not the job of colleges to protect them from the consequences of poor decisions.

they're in for a rude awakening once they leave school and nobody is there to hold their hand... let alone their hair while spewing the quart of liquor they just guzzled

“the true nature of men “

except that jesse Matthews is not representative of men, at least not normal, white, heterosexual Christian men.

by the way, lumping all men together is no different than lumping people by race or religion and then stereotyping that race or religion.

One thing about growing up a working class Italian-American like Paglia, you become street smart and are immune from the politically correct delusions that hinder most Americans.

I admire her; I don’t blame men entirely for the sex issues. Women NEED to start taking responsibility in their lives.

“except that jesse Matthews is not representative of men, at least not normal, white, heterosexual Christian men.”

Yeah, I have a big problem with these claims too, especially the recent “tumblr feminists” saying that we just need to “teach men not to rape”. As if rape is some crime of simple ignorance than any man might potentially commit because we don’t know any better!

In a civilized society, only the most sadistic and disturbed criminals commit rape. It’s usually not a “casual” crime that is committed by people not already living a criminal lifestyle of some sort. On the contrary, criminals usually work their way up to rape, after progressing through various lesser crimes over a period of time. They are specifically seeking the thrill of doing something that they know is wrong, and they arrive at rape after become jaded to the thrills that other, less violent, crimes can provide.

Saying that we can “teach men not to rape” is as silly as saying we can “teach people not to be serial killers”. The pathologies are so closely related, that one commonly transitions right into the other if a criminal runs free long enough. It’s also obvious that such pathologies are present in both men and women, as we do have some examples of sadistic female serial killers. Of course we don’t see any female serial rapists, but I have no doubt that, if they had the equipment, there would examples of those too.

True, but it’s necessary in order to successfully paint all women as weak and helpless victims; thereby keeping the gravy train going.

He is being linked to another missing person case from 2009. He may turn out to BE a serial killer!

well, I don’t know about that. the epidemic of female school teachers having sex with underage boys could be classified as serial raping.

I mean forced rape, not statutory rape.

It wouldn’t be surprising. Rapists are the primary pool of suspects when there is a suspected serial killer on the loose.

Such a statement, is befitting of the 50’s...not of “today”. Today, promiscuity is a ‘culture’. So, it seems their “false sense of security”, is the byproduct of it. Despite this, it IS the LOWLY man who even conjures in his mind to defile another, in order to defile his own self. It’s repugnant, and evil. A “Top Shelf” attack from the Devil is what it is. Look at how the demons of ISIS use it(as a weapon). Or any culture who, somehow believe this is an act of ‘power’.

Why don't you try reading her stuff and find out?

Paglia is an extremely bright, rare bird -- a woman who is honest about what feminism is (e.g. she calls abortion "murder" and says the Left ought to own up to it as such). While I don't agree with her on many things, her writing is always worth reading. She is interesting, literate, and has a point of view worth listening to regardless of your own point of view.

She pisses off her feminist colleagues and calls a spade a spade (or possibly a "f***ing shovel"). That gets her some points in my book.

In sum, it is worth your while to find out what a "dissident feminist" is.

Colleges are all about political correctness these days; it’s little more than Leninist indoctrination ultimately targeted at feeding the voter rolls of Leftist politicians.

Get rid of all of it.

Well, it was sarcasm that led to my comment. And while I applaud literacy, I tend to lump the feminist movement with things like, the LGBT movement, climate alarmists, liberals, enviro’s, etc.....some of the very things that have done nothing but exacerbate America’s problems.

Aging angry white feminists are in no way relating effectively with young men of color, but the Democratic machine grinds on, somehow.
