The federal government has no place dictating the dress codes of local police. If the local police dress code allows cancer awareness bracelets, POW/MIA bracelets, or bracelets supporting fellow law enforcement officers, that’s none of the DOJ’s business.

As much as I agree with the sentiment of the Officers, yes, it would be inflamatory to wear this declaration in that city at this time. It would be an unnecessary provocation. In their private lives, and on facebook, the cops should be able to do as they wish w/o risking their jobs.

When the DOJ begins a vigorous prosecution of the New Black Panthers for their egregious "Wanted Dead or Alive" incendiary poster during the Hood Neighborhood riots , I will entertain any absurd "should or shouldn't" opinions by the clueless.

If they are not prohibited from wearing bracelets, then this is a violation of free speech. They are expressing solidarity with a guy they know to be a good cop who is being targeted for a lynching.
They had an "I am Spartacus" moment.

I lost faith in the free speech argument years ago when burning of our flag was declared free speech. “Free speech” has been as overused at “racist”.

Local community police departments are NOT military units.

It is plainly a political statement in support of a wrongly accused fellow officer who is in hiding due to numerous death threats.
