The worst aholes I see at the range tend to be cops.
They think rules don’t apply to them.
Chitty, chitty, bang, bang.
The Maryland cops that I see are also often drunk, rude to non-cops, and can’t shoot. The Pennsylvania ones just can’t shoot. Maryland cops come up to a range near me in PA because it is much cheaper than there own communist hellhole, so I see them there a lot. One day they were making one local the butt of their asshole jokes, because he was a little country looking, and a bit reserved- he was smart enough to not take the bait and get into a physical altercation.... Long story short, they could barely hit their man sized targets at 100 yds off the benchrest with their multi-thousand dollar customized M4 clones; their jaws dropped when they watched him hit a four inch metal target with ~40 consecutive shots from an off-hand standing position with an ancient looking lever action .45/70.
Nuff said.
The worst shots tend to be cops, too.
Not that all cops are lousy shots, that’s far from the truth.
But most people who don’t like shooting and never practice never show up at the range. The ones who do are usually those cops who never shoot for fun, worrying about their upcoming qualification.
They’re bad shots, and in a lousy mood.
I just find that they have a bad attitude.
Put cans on the top of the berm and are surprised the bullet went stray.
Grrrr.
Kennesaw GA has had a “all-citizens-are-required-to-own-a-working-gun-and-ammo” law since 1976.
Unfortunately, one Kennesaw police officer has been shot.
In Marietta GA.
By a Marietta GA cop.
In the Marietta GA police range.
Shocking.
And the range is no place for attitudes, bad or otherwise.
I’ve got a number of folks I’m totally comfortable shooting alongside.
And then there’s the rest of the world, some of whom might be acceptable.
Or not.
Was at a range shooting at 100 yards and cop car drives on range 75 yards in front of me. Then another arrives and they proceed to shoot for 40 minutes. I eventually left as target and range was not accessible. They ruled that day. Thank God they finally got their own range.

How many times did the shooter discharge into the ground at his feet? I’m betting a lot of his trainees are missing toes..
I would have had words with them.
I’ve done it before.
Some jackass cop was shooting up river toward the bridge, I said what are you doing chucklehead? We have targets down stream on the bend.
He was all like “I a DPD cop I know what I am doing, I aint shooting at the bridge”
I said you ever skip a rock when you were a kid nipplehead?”
Sadly he was not the last of his kind.
