It’s a mistake to believe that Muslims are all bad people. In fact, most of them, particularly in the United States, are decent, patriotic citizens chasing the American dream just like everyone else. When decent people act like you’d want and expect decent people to behave, you can’t just always write it off as Taqiya and assume that it’s a trick.

No, I can assume that they like many or most Christians have not read their holy book nor understand or care what it really teaches. It does not mean that tomorrow they will not begin to study and live it.

It is time to be honest about what the koran and surahs teach and call evil evil so that they might escape the religion.

Last I heard, i.e., last night, the “suspect” was still alive, expected to recover, after being shot several times. Hope they did a better job of writing the rest of the story.

And just checked again. No mention of the “suspect” having died of his wounds, only the first woman he attacked.

This is a great piece by a wise man - and it has it's place. A place more in the future. I'm thankful for John Hawkins’ voice. When the time comes to reconcile what can be reconciled John Hawkins' voice will be important. But he's way ahead of the curve for this time.

We're at the beginning - the ‘awareness’ that Islam has major problems stage - that the 'religion' might be evil... We sense we have a right to 'be pissed' - that maybe we've been scammed... This stage calls for anger on our part - and a lot of defensiveness on their part. It's part of the process...(think the 'five stages of grief' etc.)

I'll agree with you in a few years John Hawkins but for now I'm ‘sick of that gutter religion’ and I want Muslims to apologized for the monster who beheaded this woman.

I want them to STOP selling their evil to criminals in prison... the only part of our population that would fall for that crap.

I'm angry and I'm insulted. Insulted Muslims would ask for protection from Americans who might be outraged when NOT ONE MUSLIM was killed in retaliation for 9/11, Fort Hood, Boston etc... Muslims need to apologize to our country and to the family of the murdered woman. And to me and to everyone I know... And if not, I want to know why not. Why won't they apologize? What's the matter with them?

Anger is the appropriate response at this stage... let them defend their 'religion' - not just make silly pronouncements about it being peaceful. I have eyes. I can see. The 'process' is our best chance for peace with them ... and for them with us.

My TV hasn’t so much as been plugged in for about 2 years, so I can’t complain about his not watching the news, but it’s not like text articles were hard to find. A few minutes with your search engine of choice, and at least SOME accuracy in reporting would be relatively easy.

Muslims do not share our view on such things. You have to understand, when they strap on a suicide vest and kill people or chop someone’s head off or stone someone, it’s not evil for them. It’s what their religion (if you want to call it that) teaches.

I think it time to again point out that the Muslim assertion "Islam is a religion of peace" is not a lie per se, though Muslims wise with the sort of wisdom the Serpent and Father-of-Lies exhibits may say it as a bit of taqiyya, knowing that it will be misunderstood by non-Muslims.

The problem is the Muslim conception of peace. In Semitic languages, the consonants are the root of the word, so Islam and salam share the root slm. In the Muslim mind, submission (Islam) and peace (salam) are deeply intertwined concepts. The only peace Islam knows is the peace between conqueror and conquered, between master and slave.

Negotiated peace treaties with non-Muslims are forbidden by Islamic law -- the most that can be negotiated is a cease-fire or hudna of at most ten years duration, and the Muslims (on the basis of a Hadith) can without blame abrogate the cease-fire at any time. While the exalted notions of spiritual peace familiar to Christians and Buddhists may have some analogue among the Sufi, there is no such conception among the dominant sects of Islam which deny the possibility of communion with Allah and see religious obligation and salvation entirely in legalistic terms as adherence to Sharia. (And one might also recall that from time to time the Sufi were persecuted in the same way IS now persecuted Christians, Yazidis, Shia and insufficiently enthusiastic Sunni -- an early noted Sufi master was crucified as a crypto-Christian, and submitted to his death by delivering in sequence all of Jesus last words from the Cross.)

The suspect is alive and expected to fully recover. The Muslim community there will rally around him. They were already out in force during the press conference, surrounding the police at close quarters. It’s an ugly, ugly crowd.

What I find disturbing is the reluctance of most Muslims reluctance to speak out against the atrocities of their co-religionists. Some do,but not very many.

To them and their religion, killing non-muslims and apostates is a positive value found in their scripture. So why would they speak out? It would make them an apostate, asking to be killed themselves. This is what the West needs to understand:

There is no such thing as a moderate muslim, because espousing moderation could get them killed; and

There is no reasoning with, negotiating or appeasing Islam, Islamists or muslims.
