Sounds like you had a justifiable lawsuit on your hands. A local city here had to pay 22,000 for merely harassing someone who was OCing at Home Depot.
EVERYONE should have cameras with sound in their cars for when the ‘JBTs’ come calling.
When I was younger, I had great respect for the police. I was even considering being one myself. As I got older, and being subjected to a few incidents like the one I mentioned earlier, my opinion of them has changed entirely.
My family are law abiding people, but I’ve instilled within my children, “the police are NOT your friends”. Don’t EVER speak to them about ANYTHING(especially if they initiate the conversation). If you see something bad happen, just pretend you didn’t, if you’re pulled over and they ask to look in your vehicle; tell them “no, not without probable cause and a warrant”, and if they insist - ask them whether you are under arrest or being detained. If the answer is “no”, then leave.
I basically view them as an ‘occupying army’ within our community.
