A 51-year-old woman shown in a video being repeatedly punched by a California Highway Patrol officer has reached a $1.5 million settlement with the law enforcement agency, its media relations office said.
The beating suffered by Marlene Pinnock, a great-grandmother, took place in July along the Santa Monica Freeway and was caught on tape by a passing motorist.

The cop ought to be able to subdue an individual quickly....
At any rate, the case seems settled.
The cop agreed to resign and the lady gets a payout of 1.5 million.
The only thing missing here is jail time for the rogue cop that would start whaling on a woman like that.
Big ol boy like that could neutralize a threat from this woman very easily without punching her repeatedly.
Hopefully he will be found guilty of assault/battery so he doesn’t pop back up again on another police force half way across the country.
“The cop ought to be able to subdue an individual quickly”
A Man could do so but the fems on the police forces today are ruled by Fear.
Sitting on top of her and pounding her face in was probably a bad idea. I read the headline, is that the wrong case? How many of these cases are here now?
He was assisting the heck out of her.
bump
He should be in jail for assault and battery at a minimum
After she finishes paying off the legal bills she’ll be broke.
The math, if you are wondering, is 3 generations of women, all having kids at 17 years old.
all pillars of society though.
I will GLADLY take a 5 minute beating for 1.5 million....
That was my first thought too. Punch me repeatedly for a couple minutes and I get $1.5 million? Sure, any day of the week.
There was a case here in Maine where a woman received a settlement of more than $400,000, tax-free, for being illegally strip-searched by the Waldo County Sheriff’s Department, on Maine’s mid-coast region.
For $400,000 tax free, the Waldo County Sheriff’s Department can strip search me anytime they want.
Ping. Could you explain it to me again? I guess I wasn’t really listening the first time. When is a cop not really a cop?
This cop had a thankless task.... to get this bipolar wacko walking barefoot along the highway....To get her away from it
This woman looks hefty. She resisted being removed and cuffed. This cop really needed some backup in this situation. 3-4 guys could have handled this better
We need to bring back nets that can be dropped over the crazies. But then a few of those will find ways to choke on something or get a heart attack .
********** I am on the cops side, This is a Rodney King type of situation
And? and?
Did he get his full pension?
Get away with it, or maybe not...
would you prefer something less than? ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GREE8GdRrc
2nd thing missing: Mr. flying fists paying the fine outta HIS pocket instead of the taxpayers. I presume he still gets his taxpayer funded bennies/etc.?
“I kind of understand both sides here”
If there were two sides to this story the lady would not be getting a $1.5 payment settlement out of court. Its out of court because the police dept was likely advised that if it went to court she would get $8 million.
The cop needs to be charged with aggravated assault and see prison time. His side of the story is that he’s a viscious thug who has no business on the streets with a gun and a badge.
