Isro's Mars mission successful, India makes history.

CHENNAI/BANGALORE: India created history on Wednesday, becoming the first country to successfully get a spacecraft into the Martian orbit on its maiden attempt.

Indian Space Research Organisation's Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) spacecraft started orbiting the red planet at 7.47am, but it was only 12 minutes later —because of a time delay in radio signals travelling the 680 million km -- that scientists at Isro Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network in Bangalore, could erupt in joy as Prime Minister Narendra Modi stood a happy witness.

so your saying they didnt succeed?

No, I am saying that for a mission to be considered successful, it must return the data that it was sent to obtain. We simply don't know yet whether the Indian mission will complete that mission.

India achieves a successful orbit of Mars. The US under the commie LIBs/DIMs is mainly launching cruise missiles and bombs into sovereign nations on earth. How we have fallen under these worthless LIBs/DIMs.

We’ve been pretty successful at mars, better than anyone else. We put yet another probe into orbit a few days ahead of India. So we are doing things too, but not big and bold as we used to.

But your right, this so called “science” president has raped NASA and basically taken a $h!t on anything that brings pride to America.

The Dim/Lib neo Marxist would be p!$$ing and $h!tting themselves if a Republican was doing what the boy king is.

What’s more, we accomplished it essentially from scratch—they had over 40 years of data and outside experience to access.

They should be ashamed of themselves.

First, why aren’t they using that money to feed the poor and hungry in India?

Second, don’t they know that going to Mars will make Muslim countries feel bad about themselves?

Shame, shame, shame.

Never been to India, but I’ve heard so much about it.

India itself needs to be careful with Hindu radicals.....

Hinduism is quite damaging in spiritual, economic and political areas.

It would be a big mistake if “Hindu sharia” were to take over India.

yes several of her family were very upset about the Modi win for just that reason...

Yeah, those radical, terrorist Hindus...up until the 1700s they had half the world's GDP. They were the center of economic activity since the first city-states were formed 5000 years ago...they did pretty good economically since before the time of Christ to the 1700s. They missed out on the Industrial age because England wanted everything produced in the UK. Indian's had to buy from the UK, and thereby all the money ended up in England and left India improvised. But, you can go on believing your narrative of the world.

I’d hate to be a newly widowed woman under “Hindu sharia”.

Or a Hindu temple child prostitute.

They did this for just over $70M. It took us $671M.

Good job for the Indians.

I agree!

The Indians are definitely to be congratulated!

I wonder how much it would cost them to do Zubrin’s “Mars Direct”?

Haha..... I hope they set their sights even higher, and that the Indians will do what NASA is unwilling to do.

Agreed.

On to the moon, I say. An Indian moon base. This is a big win for their new President, and his administration.

Someone’s got to lead the world.

If I were a leader in the Republican Party, I would have a press conference, and make this the only item, and underline that this used to be the sort of thing we did.

Pray tell me, since you claim to be so knowledgeable, what exactly is Hindu Sharia. As I already pointed out, Hindus did pretty well for themselves until British Colonialism. Colonial control of the economy which began after 1757 and accelerated from 1857 onwards. One example – raw materials such as cotton was sent from India to England mills at no cost. Finished goods from the cotton were then sold back to India.

wHile the "Hindu sharia" comment is hilariously wrong, your post is slightly wrong as well

  1. "they had half the world's GDP" -- actually, until 1790 India had a quarter of the world's GDP, China had another quarter and then other countries made up the rest
  2. India wasn't "the" center of economic activity -- it was "a" center -- an important one yes, but not the only one
  3. India missed out on the industrial age due to the Moghuls and various Moslem rulers
  4. Finally, raw materials were not sent at "no cost" -- just at a monopoly cost
