So, a professional photographer has to pay $1,500 to take a photo of public land.

So its cheaper to just pay the fine, rather than get a permit? Brilliant. Just brilliant.

With the added enticement that there is a good chance you won't get caught at all and end up paying nothing.

So, if you do find the ‘camp’ they have set up for exterminating recalcitrants, or catch the USFS doing a heavy dope deal, they can put you in the ‘camp’ for taking pictures...?

Don’t tell me. The young Smokeys think that if you photograph the trees too much, their colors start to fade. Damn brainless maggots are everywhere!

So, why did the Agency decide to do this now? Strapped for cash?

It is over. What a bunch of crap. Swarms of agents overrunning the land looking for every person taking a picture without a permit. Just another screw in the coffin of a once great country. Thank you feckless fool on the hill.

If any reporter wants to document/evidence Forest Service neglect, he must first pay the FS for permission to do so or face a fine.
I get it. It’s something like not being able to afford Obamacare, or not wanting your personal information spread across the interweb, so you pay them a penalty for not having health insurance.

Basically, the nonsense from our government must be permanently eradicated, preferably from the top down, but if necessary, from the bottom up.

Allowing government agencies to get away with such absurdities must be stopped. The only problem is, most Americans just don’t care or are not inclined to risk “rocking the boat” to do what is right.

So sad. This country is finished, IMO. All signs point to it.

Soon the only places we will be allowed to live or visit will be the inner cities.

They are turning the Forrest service and every other government agency that can derive revenue for the government into a fee collection machine.

They are making a competitive game out of it between agencies to see which one out does the other.

While the SEC and related regulators shake down banks and corporations, the Forrest service, Fish and Game and other heartland agencies are armed to the teeth and are shaking down individuals, hunters, property owners...whatever they can lay their hands on.

It’s the same crap that the land barons and the Kings of England were doing centuries ago to fatten their treasuries..

Yes, it’s exactly what the US was founded for in order to escape the government graft and corruption of the State.

Now it’s here, in spades..

Hell, I own a couple 100 acres of "woods" out in the "sticks", would only charge $100 for a photog to take all the pictures he wants.............But wait!!
I'll only charge $50 if they call today!!!

They can make all the rules they want, then comes the old issue of enforcing it. Since they’ve already made it clear that the permit starts at $1,500, and the fine is $1,000, seems like anyone who bothers with the permit is wasting $500+, not to mention a whole lot of time.

A picture of a tree? Does it mean that I could go to jail and be fined for taking a picture of a tree or a bear?

Can't I just ask the tree and the bear for permission to take their pictures?

It looks like too many Forest Service people have way too much free time on their hands.

The world is in a sorry mess, fighting here and fighting there, and they are worried about me taking a picture of a tree and/or bear? Ridiculous. Ridiculous.
