A mall in Kissimmee, Florida was evacuated Tuesday after a shooting outside of a Ross store in the shopping center. But, police found more than they were expecting when they found a car that matched the suspects vehicle.
Kissimmee Police said the shooting happened around 6:15 p.m. at the Ross store on the 3800 block of West Vine Street in Kissimmee. Officers were originally responding to a fight and then shots were fired. Police said two people suffered non-life threatening injuries during the fight outside the Osceola Square Mall.
As police responded to the first call, a car fitting the description of the suspects vehicle was seen driving towards officers. Kissimmee Police said officers circled around to find the car and as they drove up to a nearby Publix, they found the car had crashed.
Police said the two men inside the car were both pronounced dead at the scene. Kissimmee Police didnt say if the men who died in the accident were the suspects from the Ross altercation and shooting.
A Canadian company that owns struggling Osceola Square Mall is turning the retail center into a "Latin village" that will have salsa concerts and other events to cater mostly to Hispanic shoppers.
Some stores at the newly branded Plaza del Sol will sell items aimed at Hispanics, such as dresses for the debutante event of a girl's life: the "quinceañera," or 15th birthday. Grand Mart, a grocer featuring Hispanic foods, is slated to open this summer in a spot once occupied by Beall's.
