Why the senators brand of foreign policy is dangerous.
The Republican Party is divided on foreign policy. There are interventionists like John McCain and Lindsey Graham who want America to more aggressively wage wareither directly or via proxiesin Iraq, Syria, Iran, Afghanistan, Ukraine, and beyond. And there are isolationists like Rand Paul who worry that if America tries to fix the worlds problems through the barrel of a gun, well become a bankrupt empire rather than a prosperous republic.
Then theres Ted Cruz, who unites both factions by embodying the worst of each.
Take Cruzs position on ISIS. Like McCain and Graham, Cruz believes in basing American policy on the most apocalyptic assessment of the ISIS threat. When Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Martin Dempsey testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee this week, Cruz did not ask him to analyze the risk ISIS poses to the United States. He asked Dempsey to sketch the worst-case scenario that ISIS could possibly present. Then Cruz took to the airwaves to chastise the White House for not recognizing the severity of the danger.
Cruz is particularly incensed by the Obama administrations failure to recognize the threat of an ISIS attack across the Rio Grande. First and foremost, he wrote on CNNs website, Washington should resolve to make border security a top priority finally, rather than an afterthought, of this plan in light of concerns about potential ISIS activities on our southern border. Thats right. Americas foremost priority when it comes to ISIS should be neither Iraq nor Syria but Mexico.
Like McCain and Graham, Cruz also wants to kill first and ask questions later. Hes suggested that America bomb [ISIS] back to the Stone Age.(continued)

” Thats right. Americas foremost priority when it comes to ISIS should be neither Iraq nor Syria but Mexico. “
The freekign moron, there is a big difference between Mexico the coutnry and OUR BORDER with freekign Mexico....
He is writing this hit piece like Cruz wants war with Mexico.... NO, Cruz just wants to enforce the damned border security!
Go look at his photograph and it’ll all become clear to you, I think.
“Cruz also wants to kill first and ask questions later.” Sounds like a very good strategy!
No, I think that would be Obama he's describing.
Obama refuses to recognize the situation. Then when reality is forced on him, he decides to use a minimalist approach.
Liberal’s everywhere are sharting over Cruz and Palin. It’s strange to see this phenomenon occurring at the same time their head’s are exploding.
I think Cruz would also Arm the Kurds up a bit and WHILE arming the Kurds let them know that they dare attack any american after they defeat ISIS that they would be promptly and uncermoniously obliterated for any sign of betrayal, and by taking our weapon donation they agree to those terms...
Not fix 'em but eliminate the people causing them.
Smell what fear ? That they fear Ted Cruz? They should. He deals in the realm of truth and logic.
They Lear and loathe that more than they do the massive evil on the prowl due to their liberal stupidity
Fear and loathe
The long knives are already out for Ted Cruz. The MSM is going to try and Palinize him for sure.
Hang tough, Senator.
Indeed!
Since not bombing North Vietnam was the problem and was not what we did, this writer is an idiot.
“Beinart is the author of the book, The Good Fight: Why Liberalsand Only LiberalsCan Win the War on Terror and Make America Great Again, published in 2006.”
It will not be pretty.
However, no one knows this better than Sen Cruz
Senate GOP Hawks Vote to Keep Sequester Cuts
Military spending has shrunk below 16% of all Federal spending, and is now below 3% of GDP. Cruz knew this, and knows this.
Yet, he, like many in the Tea Party, abandoned our military to some $600 Billion in more cuts in 2013, AFTER the military had already been cut by $487 Billion the year before! And, the military was under the Continuing Resolution spending, which froze planned budget increases (which by then were very small) and caused further damage to the military.
The men and women of our military were used as political pawns in the budget war, and Cruz left them to twist in the wind.
Wars, as you know 2ndDivisionVet, are "come as you are." These airstrikes are nothing, real war is coming. Possibly WW III - and Cruz, like other Tea Party politicians, played our men and women in uniforms like chess pieces.
I know Obama shares most of the blame, but Cruz is no Reagan.
Peter Beinart wears lipstick and eyeliner. Of many leftist wimps, poor Peter would step aside for a chicken crossing the road. If you met Peter in a dark parking lot, he would run away. Peter is a coward.
Beinart is a freaking Marxist ahole. The rest is fluff.
