The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is looking into how to ban passengers from riding four wheelers in the name of public safety.
The agency issued a request for information on Monday to learn the feasibility of prohibiting more than one person from riding an all-terrain vehicle (ATV). The notice will be published in the Federal Register on Tuesday.
Since the 1980s, the CPSC has addressed ATV safety through various activities, including rulemaking, recalls, consumer education, media outreach following fatal incidents, and litigation, Todd A. Stevenson, secretary of the CPSC wrote. Despite these activities, ATV-related fatalities continue to be one of the largest categories of consumer product-related deaths. ATV safety, therefore, remains an ongoing Commission concern.

The EPA has told us to carpool to reduce greenhouse gases.....now they contradict themselves.
Oh hell NO!
Grew up on a farm, had an ATV, a 3wheeler, really unsafe, always rode double or triple .....
Ours is a two up. What are they going to do about it? Out here you can drive them on the highway.
Another case of survival of the most intelligent. Never had an issue here.
War on guns
Effort to push people into cities
1) Never ride without a helmet.
(I always ride without a helmet.)
2) Never consume alcohol or drugs.
(I can't imagine riding out into the desert without some beer in an ice chest strapped on back.)
3) Never ride double.
(The better half is often riding with me)
4) Ok, I forgot the fourth thing you're never supposed to do, but I know I do it all the time...
The busy-body idiots are being very, very busy. Hey...leave everyone alone, you control freaks. I bet the pinheads who come-up with these regs never drive above the speed limit and always walk on the correct side of the bike path. What losers.
Bump.
Idiots. There is nothing wrong with riding double if you don’t do anything stupid. If you keep it to a casual joyride without aggressive activity.
Notice how they don’t consider a motorcycle to be an ATV. It is far more dangerous to ride double on one of those. They won’t go there because there are too many riders that will get ripping mad.
Well they ARE dangerous - to stupid, careless and/or drunk people. Anything that is killing off the rats’ base must be stopped!
From my personal experiences you better avoid this think capsize. It is a single really dangerous situation with ATV as it may land on your head. You also need to develop reaction to immediately jump in the opposite direction as the vehicle is flipping.
