MABLETON, Georgia — She was young, beautiful and tragically killed by her daughter’s father early Sunday morning. Now, Jessica Arrendale, 33, is being hailed by her family as a hero for saving her six-month old daughter’s life, even as she died from a bullet to the head.

Never having been in one,I’m forced to admit that I’m uncertain how brave I’d be in a desperate situation. It certainly appears as if this woman was bravery personified.Hopefully the child will be placed in a loving, stable home and didn’t inherit any of his/her father’s worthless psychopath genes.

” Antoine Davis....a former Marine who served in Iraq, became belligerently drunk......got his gun, an assault rifle outfitted with a suppressor.....”

So the journalist makes sure to detail out Antoine was an alcohol abusing war vet Marine with a suppressed assault weapon BUT neglected to mention his race (black)and that of his wife (white)....which one COULD argue was as irrelevant as his past military service, type of gun owned, the attached suppressor (if it was real) EXCEPT the journalist detailed out all those. So no argument.

This obfuscating weasel wording PC BS is the moral equivalent of a lie.

Just give us the FACTS to the extent you have room to do so or shut up entirely.

Oh, it was just keen that SWAT could try out their robo toy. Sad they didn’t read the manual and knew it wouldn’t climb standard run stairs and was therefore a waste of PRECIOUS time. But it got on camera!

13 hours before entry? Columbine redux on steroids. So much for 911.

Had Antoine dissed the mayor on his Facebook, or heck, even if his neighbor had dissed the mayor on HIS Facebook, they would have been shooting the dog, slugging the hinges and flash banging the baby in less than 30 seconds from roll-up.

Yes, as I used to teach building entry/clearing against armed individuals. I know the CURRENT rules. Cops lives first. Citizens lives last.

In today’s world the small risk of injury to a few of a dozen or so heavily armored and trained warrior wannabes vastly outweighs the much higher and real risk to the lives of a mother and baby.

13 hours. Mother dead. Baby in toilet with head trauma. 13 hours.

But I don’t feel strongly about it and besides, what the heck do I know.

That question answered, good works won’t get a person into heaven.

Is Moses in Hell? Abraham? Noah? Issac? David? Solomon? Jacob? Daniel? Ezekiel? Elisha? Elijah? Samson?

If faith alone in Jesus is the only path to Heaven, what happened to all the Old Testament prophets after they died?

Here's what Jesus had to say on the subject of how to earn eternal life:

Luke 10:25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

Clearly, love of God is what is needed. And, that love is manifested through good works.

In Luke 16:19-31 Jesus tells a parable of Abraham's bosom. Where was Abraham and Lazarus, if not in Heaven? The parable clearly implies that the rich man was in Hell, but where were Abraham and Lazarus located? If Abraham and Lazarus were in Heaven, how did they get there?

The answer lies in the book of James:

James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?

26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.bHere

What's the point of having police and SWAT,if they refuse to enter any situation unless there is zero risk to THEM?

Anytime you are in a desperate life or death situation, don’t try to explain it, just dial 911 and tell them you are being attacked by a pit bull. You’re sure to get an immediate response.

That "thinking" man would be wrong. The BIBLE tells us that Titus3:4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, 5 He saved us,
not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness,
but according to His mercy,
by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,
6 whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
7 so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Romans 4 tells us:
4 2 For if Abraham was justified by works (deeds), he has something to boast about,
but not before God.
3 For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”

4 Now to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due.
5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness,
6 just as David also speaks of the blessing on the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:
7 “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds have been forgiven, And whose sins have been covered.
8 “Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will not take into account.”

9 Is this blessing then on the circumcised, or on the uncircumcised also? For we say, “Faith was credited to Abraham as righteousness.”
10 How then was it credited? While he was circumcised, or uncircumcised?
Not while circumcised, but while uncircumcised;
11 and he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while uncircumcised,
so that he might be the father of all who believe without being circumcised,
that righteousness might be credited to them, 12 and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also follow in the steps of the faith of our father Abraham which he had while uncircumcised.

13 For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir of the world was not through the Law (deeds), but through the righteousness of faith. 14 For if those who are of the Law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise is nullified;
15 for the Law brings about wrath, but where there is no law, there also is no violation.

16 For this reason it is by faith, in order that it may be in accordance with grace, so that the promise will be guaranteed to all the descendants, not only to those who are of the Law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all,

Ephesian 2:8-9 tells us:
For by grace you have been saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves,
it is the gift of God;
9 not as a result of works (deeds),
so that no one may boast.

All the people listed had faith in the promise of the Messiah, like Abraham, it was counted to them as righteousness.

All the people listed had faith in the promise of the Messiah, like Abraham, it was counted to them as righteousness.

Can you offer substantiation of this in the Bible?

I ask because what you say is not what is written in the Book of James.

James 2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

Active faith has works, the works don’t save as is clear elsewhere (Eph 2:8-9), and as your example in verse 23 makes clear. Faith is a gift from God, likewise good works are a fruit of that faith and are a gift from God prepared for us to walk in beforehand.
