Employers won’t hire her. She’s been berated with epithets like “dirty Jew.” Federal agents have guarded her house because of death threats. And she’s spent hundreds of thousands of dollars defending herself against accusations she orchestrated a coverup in a scandal that has come to represent everything Americans hate about the IRS.
Lois Lerner is toxic — and she knows it. But she refuses to recede into anonymity or beg for forgiveness for her role in the IRS tea party-targeting scandal. “I didn’t do anything wrong,” Lerner said in her first press interview since the scandal broke 16 months ago. “I’m proud of my career and the job I did for this country.”
Lerner, who sat down with POLITICO in an exclusive two-hour session, has been painted in one dimension: as a powerful bureaucrat scheming with the Obama administration to cripple right-leaning nonprofits. Interviews with about 20 of her colleagues, friends and critics and a survey of emails and other IRS documents, however, reveal a much more complicated figure than the caricature she’s become in the public eye.
The portrait that emerges shows Lerner is, indeed, fierce, unapologetic and perhaps even tone-deaf when she says things that show her Democratic leanings. She had a quick temper and may have intimidated co-workers who could have helped her out of this mess. It’s easy to see how Republicans have seized on the image of a devilish figure cracking down on conservative nonprofits.
“We followed the trail where it leads, and we saw it lead to Lois Lerner,” House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said at a hearing Thursday. “She refers with disdain to conservatives; she’s an active liberal; and it’s clear her actions were set out to be detrimental to conservatives.”

There’s always going to be a handful of cranks out there, so I believe it’s possible that someone did slur her that way. I see that, and worse, on Yahoo comment boards.
That said, the insinuation by the author is that the reason Lerner is unpopular is because her critics - all her critics - are antisemitic. That’s nonsense. Lerner is unpopular because she is at the center of an abuse scandal involving one of the country’s most powerful domestic agencies. She’s unpopular because she is a partisan hack who is trying to run the clock on out on finding the truth behind that scandal. Lerner could clear the entire matter up in a half an hour if she’d simply tell Congress what actually happened. But she hasn’t, and probably won’t, for anything less than complete immunity or unless they get the smoking gun on her to force her to co-operate. THAT is why she is being criticized.
EXHIBIT ONE While IRS factotum Lois Lerner was OFFICIALLY overseeing tax-exempt groups, she talked about taking a job with Obama’s tax-exempt/nonprofit Democrat advocacy group "Organizing for Action" (OFA)-----at the same time she wielded official IRS oversight over nonprofit tax-exempt groups.

EXHIBIT TWO Earlier, Lerner used her then-FEC position to save Illinois Dummycrat Dick Durbin’s US Senate seat back in 1996. She conducted an inquisition into Durbin's opponent for alleged election law violations....and it worked. Dicky triumphed.

As far back as 2008, at the presidential debate in Nashville, candidate Obama advanced his signature plan that was ultimately enacted (by an historic straight Democrat party-line vote) into the "Affordable Care Act:
QUOTING OBAMA: "No. 1, let me just repeat, if you’ve got a health care plan that you like, you can keep it. All I’m going to do is help you to lower the premiums on it. You’ll still have choice of doctor.”
Repeated over and over ---- with the promise that every American would be saving $2500.00 on healthcare costs.

As Trey Gowdy pointed out, if you invoke your 5th Amendment right then it is fair to assume that there is something detrimental to your case being hidden. If it were a jury trial then the prosecution could rightly infer a negative judgment concerning the testimony withheld under the 5th amendment. So that right there is evidence that there was likely illegal activity taking place under Lerner's watch.

If Ms Lerner was so ethical and above board, she would want to testify, not plead the 5th. Had no idea she was Jewish, really doubt she was called a dirty jew unless she had upset a progressive or democrat. Conservatives, repubs, teaparty folks are not into the name calling game that the other side favors so much.
And thus the MSM campaign to paint her as victim begins.
This should tell everyone a lot more about Politico than Lois Lerner. She has no defense for a career of political bias. I hope she loses every cent to her attorneys and is whoring in jail before she sees the end of this.
It’s interesting that Politico, which has leftist leanings, provided no source, not even a link, to the “Dirty Jew” reference. It’s almost as if they made it up.
