There is a big difference between the words “may” and “could”.

I wonder if Putin will be in the Syria coalition?

So Putin told Poroshenko, who told Baroso who leaked it to the Süddeutsche Zeitung where it was picked up by Liga, which was then and translated first into Bulgarian and then into English by FOCUS Fen a Bulgarian web site.

Gotcha, sounds legit.

This is cartoon stuff, Russia doesn’t have the military might or structure, modernity, or manpower, logistics, or air power to invade NATO.

Russia may have as few as 244,000 men in it’s still primitive army, and threats internally and to the East.

NATO would chew it up quickly once it started trying to attack.

In his book, Adolph Galland said the invasion of Poland, although it was a quick victory, was actually a tough fight that almost had disastrous consequences for the Germans.

Highly unlikely. It would trigger the more powerful Western Europeans to act. France and the UK may be much less powerful than they were in the 90s, but they are still powerful enough to see off the rather outmoded Russian military, even if Putin used his Navy and Air Force.

These countries on their own, sure... except maybe Poland who are surprisingly tough. Romania and the Baltics are weak.

Still, this would just be stupid. Its bluster, nothing more. He wants to spook people. Why would Putin extend himself just as the West is about to blunder into a war in Syria and Iraq thanks to McShame?

“We must destroy Assad.... grrrrrr”

At this point, if I was Putin, I would keep the Ukrainian destabilization on a low key, firm up relationships in Central Asia and with China, recover some economic momentum, perhaps do some ventures in the Arctic, advise against action in the Middle East so I look like the peacemaker again, and just kick back.

Obama and his hapless Euro acolytes will doom us all long before the Russian bear.

He’s putting the world on notice. The United States can’t protect Europe anymore. Obama has ended the Pax Americana.

Old Putin is feeling pretty good about himself right now.
I wonder if he has a nose ring on Obama?

As always Vlad wants to get a rise out of the west with an outlandish statement. The One is much too busy with the rest of the Democrats in their assault on the NFL to pay any mind to Comrade Putin. I think the left hates Roger Goodell more than they hate Putin. Well, tnat’s obvious because going after Goodell fufills a political strategy, the war on women.

Why doesn’t someone just put a round in Putin’s head? The world would be a safer place with him dead.

There is something about Putin which is both worrisome and interesting.

I saw him with Bush Jr. at a Texas high school years ago. Both of them spoke to the students. Putin was very charismatic. He was interesting to watch. That is something which I figure Hitler and maybe Alexander and Caesar also had.

It might also mean he has the desire and ability to expand his power.

The Russians spent the past 15 years BUILDING UP their military, while we DISARMED at the same time.

Can’t say I blame them for cashing in some dividends now...

“Putin made this statement”

These words are not in the article you posted, they are yours.

The only source for the quote is Poroshenko
