Thanks for pointing out the age of the article. It begs the question, what makes one a ‘leading intellectual’? Clearly it doesn’t require insight, humility, thoughtfulness, or being correct. From what I’ve seen, being an intellectual and an idiot are by no means mutually exclusive.
