A federal judge on Tuesday gave another black eye to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, issuing a scathing rebuke of the agency's handling of the career and security of one of its own -- celebrated undercover agent Jay Dobyns, who infiltrated the notorious Hells Angels.
After a costly six-year legal battle, Judge Francis Allegra, with the federal claims court in Washington, D.C., chastised the ATF for failing to adequately protect Dobyns and his family from the gang.

Aside from the career criminals....most bikers are working class guys that wouldnt hurt a flea....and I would remind you that the patriot guard riders are all bikers too...as are the 2 million riders to DC every 9/11...

I agree with the premise that the goobermint could have done more...but, Mr. Dobyns wrote a very explicit book soon after his emergence from undercover, appeared on several documentaries on biker gang exploits and lectured to LE all over the country on his undercover exploits.
He didn't exactly make himself a small target.
Most folks in the LE world and in the "outlaw" biker culture agree that Mr. Dobyns is, at best, an egotistical attention seeker who kept few secrets about his methods, his contacts, his means of doing business and with who he did business.
Truth be known, a lot of time and money was invested in an undercover investigation that really went nowhere and accomplished little, other than the intelligence it provided.
Who’d wanna work for an agency that screws its people over?
we have immense budget deficits and it is abundantly clear that the ATF cannot get its act together.
the first step in a show of good faith and governance would be to scrap the agency completly and release them to work in the private sector, certainly not in any aspect of enforcing the law.

With the exception of misspelling lovable, you, Sir, are a genius. I am so dumbfounded by the people that want to dress and appear like bikers; the clothing, the faux Nazi soldier helmet, the obnoxiously loud bikes (don’t say it is for safety when you wear the smallest legal helmet, dark clothes, small lights, etc. not to mention the Doppler effect.). Real bikers do some horribly evil things to gain rank; murder, rape, robbery, kidnap, sex with cadavers, etc. Dressing like a motorcycle gang member is akin to young white people dressing like drug dealing, gang banging, rappers. Thanks for calling a spade a spade.
