President Obama would back U.S. advisers accompanying Iraqi troops in battle to combat Islamic State militants if necessary. For now, Dempsey noted, Iraqi security forces are "doing fine," but as Republican, Sen. Jim Inhofe noted, "it is foolhardy for the Obama administration to tie its hands and so firmly rule out the possibility of special operators on the ground." Following Hagel's remarks that the fight will "not be an easy or a brief effort," Dempsey said if it doesnt succeed, he would not rule out advising Obama to use U.S. ground forces.

Why are Americans now Iran’s army?
while the Iranians are entering through Mexico?
This is not right. We lost how many men and women over that wind blasted sand? For what????
We seem to be ‘The World’s Military’ under this moron. I had a real rant today in the car to my elder son......about sending our troops to Liberia.
Iran’s???
Try Saudi Arabia. Our men will probably die so that Saudi Arabia can get that gas pipeline that Assad refused to sell them. Here is one article. You can google it.

The “surge”? Wasn’t that just another of Bush’s “failed policies”?
No Democrat knows how to run a war. They never think they ever have to fight one.
“Why are Americans now Irans army?
while the Iranians are entering through Mexico?”
Excellent question. I’m afraid to even contemplate the answer.
It’s insane because the troops could bring back Ebola to the States.
Oh and keep in mind the U.N. troops will not go near it.
In reading history of WW2 - FDR was a putz. He kept interfering with the military.
More American lives wasted ... for what?
The middle east will be the same as it always has been, a brutal bloodthirsty place (unless somewhat subdued by brutal bloodthirsty dictators for periods of time).
These people do not deserve one drop of our blood.
We should vacate the entire Middle East completely. If gas goes to $10/Gallon we’ll drill for our own oil. The first time they threaten us afterwards, we have LOTS of ICBMs that can turn the whole thing into Trinitite.
Israel is a ‘big boy’ now, unrestrained, they can EASILY take care of themselves. (they can easily turn any country into Trinitite as well)
As unfortunate as any war is...maybe we’ll get some answers as to how good are the decisions to have female fighters and homo fighters.
That way Saudi Arabia can get that gas pipeline in Syria that Assad refused to sell them.
See Saudi Arabia wants to sell natural gas to Europe to compete against Russia.
That's what it's really about. Follow the money...
Those non existent weapons of mass destruction will be turning up presently. Wonder what we will do in response?
Then let the Europeans fight for this.
All we will get out of it is more dead young Americans and more hatred towards us for interfering.
I agree 100%
Though we have no strategic objective and long range plans, the POTUS will have a huge photo op tomorrow. He will tell about how he is going to commit troops to kill the bad, non-islamic ISIL, and he shall single-handedly restore peace to the lands of the prophet as we who serve bear the cost again.
Lucky me—I get to hard back to the sandbox. I am glad this will be my last tour, but I don’t feel anything beyond this. Truly, I’m just worried that my Corpsman son will be doing this another 15 or so and I’m not sure he’ll make it.
We used to joke that being deployed was like Groundhog Day, but this is getting to be like Groundhog War...
Well, Kerry, when asked, who was going to pay for the war with Syria answered..... “The Saudis”.
Too late. Obama signaled long ago he is a weak coward and recently stated no boots on the ground. Even if he allows a few boots the enemy already knows all it needs to know.
