Scotland was independent at one time. They can do it again.
Oh my!
On the other hand, Independence might force these people to grow up.
The first thing that should go after the vote is all the benefits funded by London. See if the Scottish Parliament will fund all of those... not a chance.
Bit of an unpleasant tone to the article, but that’s PJ Rourke.
I hope that Scotland and England will become good neighbors, rather than bad co-tenants.
I think the Earl of Atholl will be someone to watch when this happens - he seems to have his head screwed on. After all, he literally has his own private army.

The Scots seem to presently exist on welfare, government jobs and above all, money-printing and debt from the BOE. Salmond and the SNP are liars, whose only hope seems to be that oil will allow them to be independent, and have even more welfare. Maybe, maybe not.
Anyway, as a disinterested observer, I'd like to see them try, just to see the results. We can always learn something new.
But they have an aspiring applicant in the perfectly ridiculous Alex Salmond.
The whole “independence” movement seems to be run by 70’s Marxists, fueled by empty-headed kids, and cheered on by opportunistic loons in other countries that think they will ride a Yes train wreck to independence for wherever they live.
It’s all a big game for too many people.
More importantly than Scotland’s future economic and political future - is the question: Will the Royal family continue to wear the tartan kilts? Sad to think that little Prince George might not be able to show off the fabulous Royal legs i.e. Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Princes William and Harry. Ah well...toss tradition for...
Would independence make them any less anti-Semitic?
Dirks and sgian-dubhs are harder to clean.
The Scots are not as inept as most current third-world residents. And they will soon find out that Das Kapital is better to wipe their a#$es with than as an economic blueprint.
On a serious note, I could be totally and naively wrong, but I have a strong sense that a fractured world leaves both the powerful and the weak (by reason of craven indolence) with much fewer opportunities for exploitation.
Me too!
I’m waiting for Obama to say that golfing in Scotland has always been on his bucket list.
Pretty funny.
Combined PING! and DANG!
I bet the British said that in 1775 about us, too.
Somebody want to tell this ‘irishman’ that his ancestors were invaders and conquerers?. That they threw out/destroyed the native Beaker People?.
Something Irish Nationalism strangely forgets.
