The Mysterious Moderate Muslim

What, and who, is a moderate Muslim?

Islamic values are codified in the Koran. The idea that some Muslims might interpret those values in a moderate way is like saying there’s such a thing as jihad lite. There’s no getting around the fact that a central tenet of the Koran is mass murder – whether through the directive to kill infidels (non-believers), apostates (those who leave Islam), or hypocrites (Muslims who don’t practice their religion appropriately). In other words, most of civilization is fair game for slaughter. What, pray tell, would be a moderate version of that?

And if people try to suggest there are many peaceful verses in the Koran, they are either uninformed or practicing taqiyya, because older, more peaceful teachings are abrogated by more recent violent teachings, as written in Sura 2, Verse 106. Jihad Watch reports:

Those Westerners who manage to pick up a translation of the Quran are often left bewildered as to its meaning thanks to ignorance of a critically important principle of Quranic interpretation known as “abrogation.” The principle of abrogation — al-naskh wa al-mansukh (the abrogating and the abrogated) — directs that verses revealed later in Muhammad’s career “abrogate” — i.e., cancel and replace — earlier ones whose instructions they may contradict. Thus, passages revealed later in Muhammad’s career, in Medina, overrule passages revealed earlier, in Mecca. The Quran itself lays out the principle of abrogation:

Whatever a Verse (revelation) do We {Allah} abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring a better one or similar to it. Know you not that Allah is able to do all things? (snip)

…Meccan suras, revealed at a time when the Muslims were vulnerable, are generally benign; the later Medinan suras, revealed after Muhammad had made himself the head of an army, are bellicose.

Indeed there are moderate muslims but it depends on your definition of “muslim”. Let’s say there are “ethnic muslims” or people who belongs to traditionally muslim societies but who aren’t into religious bullcrap. They are seculars but not necessarily atheists. Say Kemalist turks, Baathist Iraqis or pro-Russian Syrians, Egyptian military.
They would describe their religious affiliation as muslim if you ask them, but they still see islamism as their primary enemy.

Indeed the later violent verses overrule the earlier peaceable ones. Basically when Mo became a hired or if you will, mercenary warrior ( duties or propensities including attacks and killing of his victims) then his message changed appreciably, consistent with the radical change in his lifestyle. Note also that the Koran verses are not usually presented in chronological order but a chronological listing of them is available. We need to
Defeat them utterly to protect ourselves and our children’s lives. Containment is a loser’s strategy here, won’t work. Besides its a joke since our borders are wide open to their continued infiltration into USA.

Go back and read the poll results of ‘affiliated’ Muslims and you will see what disgusting parts of the Muslim doctrine they subscribe to. They may not yet have the conviction to act on those beliefs, but they are well over half way there. I call them ticking time bombs. These are the Muslims who will become hard nosed Sharia proponents as soon as Muslims obtain critical mass in a society. Why do these ‘unaffiliated’ Muslims not speak out against the atrocities? Because they believe in Sharia's punishment if they do so. In my book that makes them submissive to Allah and believers that are dangerous and damaging to a society that is threatened by Islam.

Muslims do not interpret the Koran as many do the Bible. If a verse contradicts another, the latter is considered authoritative.

Thus, the verse that says “kill the infidels where you find them” overrides all verses that say to have peace with them.

To find the elusive Peaceful, Moderate Muslim, one must look to the hills and mountain passes of Islamic areas.

Sure there are "moderate Muslims," though to be one when living within the nations of Islam, like Saudi Arabia, is to be considered dangerously radical.

Moderate Muslims seem to be those who have managed to move, or to have been born to among those who have moved, to the West. Just as there are self-styled moderate "Catholics" who haven't been to a Mass nor a confessional perhaps in their entire lives.

There were a great many "moderate" (that is to say formerly tolerant) Muslims among the victims of the "Caliphate," now subject to the "peace of a common grave" in upper Mesopotamia.

Islam has to be totally rewritten to be made moderate.

The Jews left all the craziness behind. During their conflict with Rome, they had to adapt and change, and they found ways to make their rules fit in a different world they did not have their own country. Yes, they suffered. But they gained a religion that functions in a modern era even though it has ancient roots. I don’t see them wiping out villages or stoning their women.

The muslims have never come out of archaic times. The Jews were leaving this behind while the Muslims were picking this up. You can’t fix stupid. I hate it when people keep telling me how “enlightened” the muslims were. They didn’t adapt, did they? Enlightened people don’t keep their women in garbage bags.

My great hope is that this is a time in history that pressure is being applied to the muslim religion in order to force it to undergo IT’S “enlightenment” - it’s time of reform where it comes out and is forced to change - but because of our own misunderstanding and weakness instead of the applying pressure and forcing that change, we are crumbling before the power of this barbaric religion. We do not understand them. We keep trying to “live and let live”.

IMHO (and I don’t know how this could be done) what is really needed is a mass roundup of their imams in every country through the leaders friendly to us. They need to have a mass “revelation” of the general way the religion is run. New inspiration, whatever it takes. Because the way it is now, it is a bloody mess that will not stop until we are back in the year 1000 again, and people are just fooling themselves.

There is no such thing .
There are followers of Islam. (Death terror torture oppression) as directed by the Prophet.
There are people that claim to be muslim and do not follow the directions of Islam and the Prophet.

My experience is that almost all are moderates. But I only have experience with Muslims in America. Many of them left the Muslim world for a very good reason.
My daughter did a book report that required her to interview college coeds from Iran. The men did a very good job of protecting the women from the extremists in Iran. The women dressed just like American college girls so they couldn’t be pictured for fear it would get back to Iran.
