In a normal, free-market, American economy, I’m against minimum wage laws.
But this is no longer a normal, free-market American economy. It’s an economy artificially flooded with foreign workers willing to take lower wages, driving Americans out of certain trades completely.
Had a fence built lately? Was your worker American?
The lowest-skilled American workers have no defense against a wage race to the bottom — there’s always a third-worlder ready to do their job for less.
Since minimum-wage Americans have been utterly betrayed by their government, which has allowed the labor market to be flooded with millions of low-skill workers, the very least this government can do for Americans is to enforce a minimum wage.
I’m guessing your job isn’t threatened by a recent arrival willing to do it for less than you’re being paid.
I’ve heard that Americans are unwilling to be “go getters” like the first generation Mexican immigrants.
Well to work the jobs they are working (in the kitchen or in construction or yardwork) you have to learn Spanish. It’s a closed shop.
Unless you are willing to be a company of one.

Raising the min wage means more illegals, not more money for the poor. Illegals will work under the table for cash, and more working poor get cut.
Raise min wages...prices go up, more are laid off, and the poor are worse off.
